Why doesnt this just go away? Somebody out there must be talking about it...
09 December 2007 Morning News
Les Miles remains the wild card and will until a new coach is hired. Michigan already has permission to contact him. It could happen any day or may have happened already. At the very least, expect some interaction to occur, as discreet as possible to not endanger Miles' position at LSU. Even though Miles is weeks away from the biggest game of his coaching career, his passion for Michigan remains undeniable. Simply listen to his radio interviews and read his barely amended contract… (Miles' buyout clause if he leaves for Michigan remains at $1.25 million.)

it won't go away because it's a real possibility until Michigan hires someone not named Les Miles.

How many times has Football Rumormill been right?

Agree. Time to let Scott know his comments and rumors were unnecessary and poorly timed.

Not sure what their percentages are, but they have a pretty good reputation.
They were the first to break JR to the pros last year.

Hell Ray Charles saw that coming.

You known, I can tell my wife every morning before I leave the house, and every evening when I get home that "I love her"! But, it's up to her to believe me. Fortunately for me, she
does!
Obviously Scott Rabalais ("The Advocate") didn't have any games to write about this Sunday, so he resorted to the routine "shite stirring" journalistic special.
What more does a guy like Miles have to do to convince people, and further more, why do invidiuals such as yourself continue to want to "stir the pot" with the good ole the "glass is still half empty" attitude?

Really I wouldn't be surprised to see UM offer Miles a "a deal you can't refuse" - I didn't know that the contract buyout was still the same...interesting.

Would have thought it was possible for Miles to leave, but he has sort of painted himself in a corner here at LSU.

It's still a very real possibility that he could go to Michigan. The only thing he'd have to worry about is the PR nightmare he'd receive if he left.

Not only with the board, but with his familhy as well. What do you think those kids of his would say if he "reversed course"? "Daddy, I though you said we were staying"? Sure would make it difficult for him in the future to get them to "buy into anything" he tries to tell them as their father. Thin we all know he is, as reported to be, an outstanding family man, and I for one whould believe that his "family character" alone will keep him from changing his mind. Maybe not, but I believe the man when he says "My family and I are at home". Too many people are tyring to read "way too much" into the lingering banter from elsewhere IMHO!

I see them doing that in desperation. Michigan hasn't hired a coach since '69 I believe. They always hired from within. They really have no idea on how to go about hiring a new coach.

Yup...they don't know how to fix the problem so ultimately they'll throw lots and lots of money at it. I'm not saying they'll land him - but they will offer.

Bingo! Add to this fact that Michigan wants to pay what they want to pay for the "privilege" of being the Michigan coach.
As a Buckeye fan I don't know whether I should be happy or sad at the pathetic situation in Michigan right now. On one hand, Ohio State really needs Michigan, PSU, Wisconsin and a couple of others to again rise but then again it's great to see the misery up there.

Of course it will be a rumor until Michigan finds a new coach. Miles is a top coach and has always expressed his love for Michigan. He has a 1.25 million buyout in his contract. No other school is mentioned in his contract. The only thing that puzzles the so called experts is why isn't Miles in Michigan already. Someone at Michigan is asleep at the wheel.

If Miles goes to Michigan now, after his speech following the SEC title game, after his impromptu spiel about integrity following his extension...the fallout will be worse than it was for Saban.
