Some loose chatter of a Higuain-Giroud swap plus cash, but I don't think that solves much of our problem at all, as we still need another striker.
Also talk of Rugani, which would be a nice addition to our center backs and would probably free Chambers to leave on loan. Debuchy is apparently in training and I wouldn't be shocked if he's back as depth for Bellerin.

Later transfer rumors: Draxler, Higuain, Rugani.
I have no hope on any of them but we will see.

It's deja vu all over again. How do you start off so promising with Xhaka and then nothing after that?

I think we have a need at CF, non-Alexis wing, and CB. I don't think Giroud, Walcott/Ox/Jack/Ramsey, and Per/Gab is good enough to win the title.
I wonder if we'll experiment with some sort of two forward system now that Xhaka can seemingly play the Cazorla-Coq role by himself.
Something like
------------Cech-------------
Bellerin-Kosc-Per/Gab-Monreal
-----------Xhaka-------------
----Ramsey-------Santi/Jack--
-----------Ozil--------------
-----Giroud-----Alexis-------
In attack, and
------------Cech-------------
Bellerin-Kosc-Per/Gab-Monreal
Ramsey----Xhaka--Santi---Alexis
---------Ozil-----------------
-------------Giroud-----------
In defense. Basically Ramsey on the right from last year, but a little more dynamic because we're letting Xkaha do the work of Coqzorla
That's potentially a really good 11 that seems to fit really well together, but we still have massive depth issues and Giroud is still Giroud, good but not great.

We basically need another 15 goals from somewhere. Targeting 80 goals a season is a decent enough metric to determine championship quality, this past season not withstanding.

Have you not been paying attention? It's one major signing per summer and then crickets. Cech, Sanchez, Ozil. Not sure if we signed anyone else when we signed Giroud but yeah... This is what we do.

was podolski signed at the same time?
but yes, this lack of bolstering the squad is frustrating. thing is, are we really that surprised?

I was hoping with getting Xhaka done so soon and spending the money with no drama that it could continue

I'm hoping xhaka can play the role by himself. As much as I love ozil, hes not a goal scorer. I feel like Ramsey would be better playing off giroud, ozil needs people to feed. In the double pivot with giroud up top we need runners around him.
If you watched him in the euros, had excellent tourney imo, he's always occupying both CBS, giving freedom for the other guys. France fricked up by not pushing their full backs up the pitch. Doing so either creates a more equal number in attack or it gets giroud room in the box for crosses if the CB have to pick up payet or greizmann.

Sagna got plenty far up the field. Evra did too but wasn't as effective.

France fricked up because they couldn't fit Payet, AG7, Pogba, Kante and Matuidi on the field. Kante and Matuidi would have freed Pogba, but Greizmann didn't seem comfortable out wide.
Regardless, we need Giroud to continue his stellar play from the Euros. When he doesn't fall to the floor really easily and actually plays, I really don't think there is a better striker with their back toward goal.

Arsene will have some tinkering to do, and I think we probably don't make any other big signing.
You got to find goals from somewhere, I just don't see it. Unless you get super Ramsey back.
Xhaka
Ramsey ozil
Sanchez cazorla
Giroud
If talking strictly best players at the moment.
Obviously could be missing a few if those come Liverpool.
You can get some interchange from cazorla and ozil, something they've done well with in the past on the left. Just don't need either always isolated out there.

I love Santi but he can not play out wide. He doesn't have the legs anymore. I also would rather a worker(Elneny or Ramsey) next to Xhaka. Xhaka can make a tackle and is solid positionally but he is never going to cover that much ground. Finding a good balance is very important.

There will not be another signing and all other clubs love dangling a carrot in front of AW simply to watch him jump.

If we don't sign another player this season could get ugly

Holding out limited hope for Higuain. Apparently he wants out of Napoli and Juve want him, and Napoli obviously don't want that to happen. Might open the door for us and at a decent value.

I haven't been keeping up with transfer rumors as much as I'd like. Is Arsenal in the market for a striker or CB still? Or is Wenger doing the thing he normally does at this time of the year
Y'all are like 2 signings away from being a real force.
