Suggestions for a new home theater receiver and speakers

I am getting rid of a Bose system that has broken for the second time and is no longer repairable for a reasonable price. I don't want to be locked into a system like that. I want to be able to change speakers and subwoofer etc. without the necessity of making sure these things have some type of proprietary special cables.
I have several components that I will be running HDMI through the receiver. I also am looking for built in streaming capability (spotify/Pandora) and Bluetooth capability. Any suggestions?

I always recommend Klipsch for home theater speakers. Amazing sound and long lasting.
Some of the newer receivers by Sony or Denon are 4K capable and have bluetooth.

You can also add Bluetooth to any receiver these days for $50-$70

Figure out a budget for speakers and listen, listen, listen. Speakers are extremely subjective. One poster mentioned Klipsh. I'm not a fan. That doesn't mean they might not be good for you. They just don't fit my ear.

Need budget and likely configuration. Are towers acceptable? Must you stab us in the heart with all in ceiling?

Not looking to spend more than $1k on the receiver. I already have the wires in wall for 5.1. Will be replacing the Bose speakers and sub. Along with the rest of the proprietary money suckers. I would like to stick with smaller speakers sine the room will look funny with towers.

You should budget more for speakers than for the receiver and you do not need a $1k receiver.

Look into Elac debut or uni-if series designed by Andrew jones for speakers. Reviewers seem to be indicating they're the best quality in their price range.

The OP is going to get home one day to a Russian crew that's already installed a system and they're just waiting there to get paid.

You looking for something that supports Dolby Atmos?
If not, here's a good priced mid-level featured receiver Yamaha 679
I'm a fan of high-efficiency speakers for home theater, of which most Klipsch are characterized as. I use the now defunct Chase Home Theater SHO-10s as my front stage. I have an Outlaw LFM-1EX sub.
AVS List of "Reference Level" and High-Efficiency Speakers

Just purchased one of these.
LINK
I had never heard of them before, but the Magnolia room at best buy had one set up. Main thing that sold me is it had audio pre outputs to hook up a second receiver as well as two zones. This allows me to watch TV inside as well as listen to music outside. The audio pre outputs allows me to connect this receiver to a second receiver which acts as an amplifier to feed just the outside speakers. Don't know how much you are looking to expand the system, but this receiver has everything you need and more.

I still have a working Marantz 1250 Integrated Amp from 1978. Thing is a tank.

I have a friend with a Marantz 10b, and it's just unreal. It's an FM tuner that he uses at his NOLA house to pick up WWOZ. It couldn't be cooler.
Those are all tubes in the black cylinders and that's an oscilloscope used for station tuning.
