So would you give Chanandler Parsons a max deal?

I would love to have him on the team. A starting lineup of:
Jrue
QPon or Hield
Parsons
AD
Asik
feels like a legitimate, well thought out lineup. A good mix of defense, 3pt shooting (you'll have 3 good ones unless Reke is still on the team and starts), and reasonable BBall IQ (if Qpon starts, not sure about Hield but he seems to move really well off ball). Is it a championship starting lineup? Probably not unless AD becomes Tim Duncan. It also limits us in next year's strong FA class, and also nearly guarantees that we don't get a lotto pick in next year's strong draft class.
I think I would do it. The best case scenario for that team is a darkhorse competitor for a championship. I know that's not ideal, but I think it's the best we'll get in this market. It could be better than that 2008 team that was a few plays away from the WCF.
You also get Parsons at a reasonable max, given that he only has 6 years experience. You're taking an injury risk, but he'd be a great fit on this team. Could play smallball 4. And I know that next year's FA class is a lot better, but if you sign Parsons at a max and he stays healthy, you could dump him easily to sign whoever you want if AD makes a leap into "yeah, he's the next Duncan" territory.
I'm possibly the biggest Jrue fan on this forum (I think he's a legit 2b option on a championship team, IF healthy), but if you want to go all out in 2017's offseason, then he should be dealt ASAP. Let AD and Hield develop some chemistry on a lotto team, get another difference maker in the 2017 draft, and then go after the FA's you want. That path makes a lot more sense for the LA or NY Pelicans, though.
ETA: The biggest downside to bringing Parsons to NOLA is that he'll pull 10% more pussy than Smiht did. You thought your random hookups were dry between 10-14? LOL, you ain't seen shite yet. You'll be ripping some hottie's panties off in your apartment, feel a surprising tap on your shoulder, and turn around to see Chanandler with his gorgeous smile saying "Don't worry my man, I'll take over for the rest of the night." You'll start to ask him how he got into your locked apartment, but then you'll realize that it's a losing battle and sulk into the bathroom to rub one out into a half roll of toilet paper.

Not a max deal. But if it's a reasonable contract, I would still do it. He would be a good fit for us.

That might be the most disturbing plus/minus I've ever seen about picking up a NBA FA. Just too descriptive..
Back to the question.. no. I wouldn't sign a guy to the max that just had knee surgery. He can't pass a physical and there is no way to tell how well he will recover. He has had issues with the same knee before. Just not a gamble we can afford right now..

I am really surprised this got all no's. I would definitely do it. Maybe it is the term 'max contract' that people struggle with. How about this- Would you give this guy 20% of your salary cap from 2017-2019? I would.
Especially as Buddy is making just 3%. He is an above average defender, passer, and 3 point shooter for the small forward position. Basically the three things you need next to an AD, Jrue, Buddy core.
I just don't see a better alternative. Parsons at 22 is better value than Bazemore or Marvin at 15-18 IMO or Dudley at 12-14. Or you can hope and pray you get a stud in 2017, but why would they come to NOLA if you just patched together the position this year and won 40 games?
I prefer Batum but if he says no and Parsons says he will come for the max, I dump Reke and sign him ASAP, then use the rest of my cap space on Jodie Meeks, re-sign Frazier and Ennis and that is a successful offseason IMO
