Wide receiver Brandin Cooks had a promising rookie season end early because of a broken thumb, but showed in 2015 that there were no lingering issues as a result of the injury.

The 2014 first-round pick caught 84 passes for 1,138 yards and nine touchdowns to pace the Saints’ passing game and a repeat of that kind of production would likely work out well for New Orleans in 2016. Cooks isn’t looking for a repeat performance, however.

“I’m extremely confident and extremely excited,” Cooks said, via the team’s website. “Last year was an OK season in my book. I left a lot of meat out there on the bone. For that to be a 1,000-yard season, I’m so excited about what I can do this year just from getting smarter as a player, knowing how defenses are going to cover me.”

Cooks is entering his third season, but he’s the most experienced member of the receiving corps with Marques Colston leaving the team this offseason. That should make his performance even more important to the Saints as they try to find their way back to the right side of .500 this season.

He had a really good sophomore season and he will only get better with Michael Thomas on the other side.

I'll enjoy the tranquility of this thread before Brandincookem ruins it.

He has a great work ethic from all accounts. Trained with Brees and Sproles last offseason

He could've had 1500 yards if he just stayed in bounds, that's my one major complaint about him is how easy he goes down or how quickly he jumps out. Still a damn good receiver

He did start kind of slow last year, hopefully his form carries over.

God if Mike Thomas can come in and contribute and put up half the numbers ODB and other rookie receivers have done in the last year, we are gonna be really good on offense.

If Coby Fleener=Watson

Spiller stays healthy and we use him and pair that with Cooks and Thomas. We are gonna be really good, on offense,

Cooks can't be a true #1 by himself. He needs Thomas to develop quickly so he can reach his full potential

Not sure how much better Cooks can get honestly. The amount of contact teams get away with on him down field is frustrating to watch and disrupts the timing of his routes. I think his numbers can marginally improve but the biggest jump in production will be the holes he will create for everyone else. Fleener/Snead/Thomas should feast off man to man looks while Cooks pulls coverages with him.
