Can Wofford maybe take an OF spot,
Hope so. I know his stats are not that great but IMO he has the best looking swing on the team. I expect big things from this kid.

Even with losing a couple people to the draft, we will have one of the better collection of arms we've had in quite a while.
I agree.
Don't expect Poche back but he's not going to sign for less to 250k from what I'm hearing.
Lange, Latz, McKay, Gilbert are all potential starters with power arms.
Reynolds and Newman will be veteran pen guys. I cannot believe Hunter went undrafted, such a huge piece back for LSU.
Not counting Bugg, Smith, or Stallings who could all leave or stay.
Zach Hess was a top 50 high school player and has one of the nastiest sliders coming out of high school this year and will sit 93-94 mph. There is a chance Dunn can't keep him out of a Sunday spot.
Todd Peterson is another power arm with big body that if he refines his mechanics and works on his control will be huge for LSU.

Freeman staying but K Rob going? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Freeman was an 18th rounder and K Rob was the 32nd round.

McKay, Hess and Peterson all have unreal potential, but before any of them can reach it they have to get control of their pitches. I'm really hoping Bain and Gilbert step it up over the offseason, that's 2 guys that have to be better next year.
As for the hitters, I wouldn't be surprised if we lose every hitter drafted. I think Kramer is the most likely to stay, but I wouldn't be surprised if the other 2 go. If 2nd base is open next year smith will most likely start there and he will be fine, the guy we have to bring back is deichmann. We will be in some trouble if we lose our best power bat and end up having to stick Jordan at first all year.
I have a pretty good feeling Pap and wofford are going to have good summers, I'm hoping wofford finds a position he can stick to. Maybe he can be our 1st baseman if deichmann leaves.

What's so funny about that? You think these teams blindly drafted these guys? They talked to all of them at some point and they know what it will take to sign them.

I agree all three were recruited to be weekend starters. Hess has the most upside and his off speed is there now. McKay to me wouldn't surprise me if he's touching 97mph in a year or two he just has that build you want in a power arm.
Smith, Watson, and Slaughter are all very good with huge upside.
As long as LSU can keep two of Freeman, Deichmann, and Robertson they'll be fine next year.

And if you had to ballpark it, how much do you think it would take to sign them?

whatever it is hopefully Duplantis, Breaux and Jordan can get on a off-season arm program.

I have no idea. What I'm saying is, teams know what a guys signiability is They aren't going to draft you with a pick they can use on a guy they know they can get, if they don't think they have a chance at signing you. The only time they do that is when they draft high school kids that are unsignable and that's because they might be a top 200 prospect available in the 30th round, why not try?
I'm not saying all of them are as good as gone, but don't be surprised if we lose more than half the guys drafted.

How many of them do you think have asking prices of 100k or less?
Posted on 6/13/16 at 1:16 pm to MOT
Again I have no idea, but that's slot value so most are probably expecting money around that area.

Players in the purgatory rounds go unsigned all the time. There are 40 rounds, they are forced to take someone.
What incentive to guys like Freeman or Robertson have to go pro as 18 and 32nd round draft picks? Little to none. Limited middle infielders with no power aren't exactly guys they are going to pay. Now if they don't want to come back and play at LSU, I could understand that. But let's not act like they have a pot of gold dangling in front of them.
Deichmann in the 26th round to a small market team like the Twins aren't going to pay that dude. He could come back and be looking at a 7 figure bonus next year as a top prospect.
I'd bet that all 3 of those guys are back. The twins if for some reason offer Deichman a nice amount after seeing his recent hot streak, I could see it.

I guess we'll see, but when it comes to the later rounds I think the
picks happen more often than you think, and not just with high school players.

How many junior hitters have LSU lost over the years to guys going that late in the draft?
You can prob count them on one hand in th last 15 years.

Teams don't just throw away 32nd round picks LE, those things are like gold.
Posted on 6/13/16 at 1:25 pm to MOT
I think once they get to the mid 30's almost every pick is a, why not try pick but when a guy is drafted in the top 20-25 rounds, they want him in the farm system.

Do you even Johnny Dishon, bro?
ETA: I really don't remember anyone other than him and Tyler Moore being "I'll sign for anything" guys.
We've had some pitchers like that, most of them from JUCOs, but not many hitters.
