The only person I think comes close is Maddon.

Bochy is definitely the most laid back manager in the game

He won 90+ games like 5 or 6 times in Tampa. They certainly had talent at the top end of their roster but he got the most out of some pretty marginal players as well. His tenure with Tampa>Bochy's tenure with San Diego. I think it's pretty close between him and Bochy but his "LOL, stop it" response makes it seem like suggesting Maddon is better is absurd

You could say the same thing about Bochy and the Giants, except he has 3 world series rings to show for it.

It is absurd, but Bochy over Maddon isn't. They both have an argument but I think winning a WS matters, especially when you've done it 3 times. I would give the edge to Bochy. Maddon is brilliant though.

The gap in resources between SF and Tampa is pretty significant. If Maddon doesn't win a few titles in Chicago over the next 4-5 years it's probably settled. I think they're the clear top two. If WS rings are a huge consideration in this then Francona should be in the mix as well, but I would take Maddon over him all day

I'd vote Maddon, absolutely no way to measure or test that though. And Bochy is obviously accomplished.

Bochy has benefitted from premier pitching.
You give some doofus Cain in his prime, Bumgarner and Lincecum in his prime, and he can win a series or two too.

Lincecum threw a no-hitter after his body was done and he was washed up.

I've been impressed with Bochy's ability to ride with the waves.
I think that really helps his team stay calm and focused.

Maddon is a pure genius.

Bochy is the best. He manages his arms better than anybody in the biz.

He took San Diego to the WS for chrissakes

You guys don't realize that Dusty Baker is the greatest, dude. Anyone who understands that walks clog the bases and your lowest OBP guys should bat at the top of the order if they are fast, dude, is at a higher understanding of baseball.

Showalter is a great choice, he gets overlooked a lot of times because of his lack of a WS but he always gets the best out of his clubs.

Maddon is a great coach and so is Bochy, really between the two it is a toss up although right now they are on level ground. Maddon had more success in Tampa against Boston/Yankees which gives him a nod over Bochy's time in SD.

Bochy has 3 World Series wins currently so Maddon needs to get a couple himself.

I think Ned Yost is a better coach now that during his tenure with the Brewers as well.

Anybody who understands baseball knows that lineups don't matter so Dusty was actually right in that regard.
