The term "Millennial" is officially scrapped. The term "Generation Snowflake" fits perfectly and should be used from this day forward

That term is offensive to those of us in this generation that aren't a part of the ones that are easily offended

Has anyone here ever actually met one of these snowflakes in person? I've wanted to for some time. It seems like it would be a lot of fun to express all my opinions to them, which those socialist bastards would probably deem controversial. Is it because I am in Baton Rouge and these snowflakes are generally only in much more liberal places?

i took this to mean, that while rape me the worst thing that any one individual may experience, it may not be the worst thing one may experience. I don't think this in any way trivializes rape or negates the trauma of the experience, just that there are worse things that could happen.

I figured as much, but why even say it? I mean if I had to pick one thing that was, generally speaking, the worst thing a woman could experience, I'd pick rape.

If her point is that there are different levels or rape, and some of the "minor" levels aren't as bad as some of the other things that could happen to a woman, like serious physical assault that wasn't sexual in nature, then I guess I could agree, but it still seems pointless.

Getting up in front of a crowd of women in their late teens and early twenties and telling them that there are worse things that can happen to you than rape is stirring the pot just for the hell of it.

This is nothing but an effort to undermine the free speech of people with a different world view than their own.

Being offended, to them, establishes victim status.

Things I would guess are worse than rape:

1. Losing a child
2. Dying, especially painfully
3. Losing everything and becoming homeless
4. Losing a key body part, especially a leg or an eye

I've never been raped, so I certainly cannot say how terrible it is. But if you made me choose, I'd choose being raped over the 4 things I listed.

We did that all the time in college. It was called Political Science class. Also, healthy disagreement and debate were strongly encouraged everywhere on campus.

That is why I said I'm interested to see where she was taking that comment. I mean it is logical to conclude that rape affects different women in different ways, but surely we can agree that it is a life-altering, traumatic experience that likely stays with a victim forever, particularly if it is aggravated rape.

Given the fact that there are different levels of "rape" so to speak, and humans will react differently depending on their situation, it seems rather obvious that for SOME women rape may not be the worst thing that could happen to them. However, I still don't get the point of the comment. I can't stand SJWs, but I have similar disdain for people who are shite-starters and take some edgy, contrarian opinion just to get people riled up.

Someone posted here that 25% of American women are on mental health related medication. What you are seeing in your story are the 75% who are not properly medicated.

Bravo, you magnificent bastard.

Sure, it should be encouraged on topics where people actually believe opposite views. However, saying something asinine just for the sake of inciting the crowd, particularly on a topic like rape, is just stupid. This lady doesn't really believe there are worse things that can happen to a woman than rape. I've actually looked around the internet to find similar takes and they're always one-off situations that just weren't as bad for Jane Doe as they probably are for the average woman.

There is no constructive conversation that will happen when you say something like that, and rightfully so. You're not trying to be insightful or present an alternate view that will help see the bigger picture, you're just inciting a riot because you think you're smarter than everyone else. (Obviously not you in particular, but the woman in the OP)

As a woman, only losing a child is something I could conceive of as being "worse" than being raped.

If I'm dead - no matter how painful the circumstance - I don't have any aftermath or trauma to deal with. I'm dead, it's over.

Losing everything or losing a limb are terrible things but being raped would be worse to me.

You're not wrong, I just tend to take exception to the idea that this is isolated to any particular generation. Younger generations have been wanting to stick it to the man and mainstream opinions forever, but they didn't have Facebook or Twitter or other means to effectively communicate those dissenting views. Social media is an equal opportunity destroyer - regardless of the absurdity, you can find enough people to start using a hashtag to support your cause and get noticed.

I'm of the opinion that every generation before us had the same types of entitled, ridiculous opinions, but there was no efficient way to communicate them or to organize support, so they were effectively stopped before they ever got started. Nowadays every millennial can voice their irrelevant opinion and you can rest assured that some baby boomer will find that opinion with little effort and the generation bashing begins.

I was chastised last week by someone in my group because I used the word they at the beginning of a sentence describing something the people on St. Kitts do. I was making a compliment but that was of no consequence to this moron because of my use of the word they.

fricking idiot.

As men, many of us just don't understand this line of thinking at all. If I really thought about it, I'm sure there are plenty of things I could come up with that would be worse, to me. I guess that's just the difference in how males and females view things.

I've been in upper management since 2003, have interviewed hundreds of candidates from all age groups and have hired from all age groups as well. I have not yet encountered a single millenial that comes close to the media caricature often reported.

I've been in upper management for 4 years and it seems like every fricking 20-25 year old candidate HR sends me for interview is a dipshit fricking snowflake millennial.

Indictment of your HR department, seems like. Why don't you bitch about the HR director?

Oh wait, that'd probably be one of YOUR peers, huh?
