45 acp ammo deal

Figured I would share this with the board.
LINK
Link is to a deal posted on 1911forum.com
In summary, it is 500 rds of 230gr FMJ in brass cases from Freedom Munitions, new manufacture (not reloaded), for $116 shipped.
Yes, it is Freedom Munitions, I know there are some bad reviews. I've shot their 9mm, 115gr FMJ without any problems. It isn't target ammo or the latest SD stuff, but it's even cheaper than Tula steel cased.

I've bought 9mm and .45 from Freedom Munitions and didn't have any round failures.
That price is great too. You can't buy the Russian shite for that cheap.

Thanks! Which I'd had this available last weekend when I burned #300 rounds at an advanced cc course.

Updating- I received a shipping notice earlier this week, and my ammo is expected to be delivered to my door monday.
As an aside, I am amazed at the attitude some people have about this deal.
The site in question, Gearhog, is a self-proclaimed bargain and special purchase site, with good prices on random deals, better prices than what you would get from the actual vendor. On this particular deal (Freedom Munitions .45 acp), they stated on the site that the item would be shipped 7-10 days after the deal ends, which was 6/7 as I recall. Several posters on forums confirmed that they had bought through Gearhog before, and had always received their purchases.
At least one forum, shortly after a lot of people posted that they had bought in, you began to see the nervous nellies. "They're not answering my emails", "Freedom Munitions says they don't know anything about this", etc.
A number of people are saying they would never buy from them again, and at least one guy is boasting that he reversed the CC charge, and then received the ammo "with no notice".
I don't get this; I received the shipping notice well within the expected timeframe, I was charged what I was quoted. Not really sure what email replies anyone wants to get... "are you really gonna ship"? It's kind of dumb to ask things like this- if you don't believe them, don't make the buy.

What are the chances of your posting an AAR about the class ??
I'm sure there would be a lot of interest on this board.

Gladly, but first, what's an AAR?

Thx.
I've shot a lot though the years, but was the first time to really shoot much under someone's instruction. The class lasted most of the day. I did it in conjunction w/ their basic class for my CCL renewal training. The class was taught by Golden Eagle Training and Safety. It was done at David Raines Correctional facility just outside of Homer, LA. The site has nice classrooms and a roomy shooting range w/ 21 shooting bays. Each student had a personal mentor w/ them. The shooting started w/ basic marksmanship at 50 yds w/ open sighted Ruger 22/45 (had to hit the metal plate 8/10 shots x 2 courses). Then demonstrated safely handling/changing mags of the 22/45 and timed shooting at 25 yds. After that, each student used the cc gun they'd brought. I used a 1911 Commander in 45 ACP. All shooting was done from the draw. Drills were done w/ the cc gun at a B-29 target, including point shooting at close range, aimed shooting after moving and while moving and shooting w/ a mag change. We also shot at B-29 targets w/ two balloons, one at the head and one at the chest. There was also some shooting at distance using "bad guy" targets, w/ and w/o mag change. We even shot a few "zombie" targets. Shooting ended by shooting at 15 yards at a moving electric trolly that had B-29 targets w/ one balloon on the head and one balloon on the chest. There were other drills I don't remember. I shot approx 250 rounds. My gun ran fine except for a few failure to feeds while using a 10 round mag; I've had that problem before w/ that mag.

All in all, I had an enjoyable day and learned a good bit. I'll take the course again. GETS does a good job w/ both classes and the fee is very reasonable (the fee also included a catered meal). Next time I'll prob use one of my smaller cc guns like my Kahr CW45. Having never done this before, I wasn't sure how demanding it would be, but it wasn't really a problem. I'll have more mags and some external mag pouches next time.

I have to admit I am getting a little nervous about this shipment. The sale actually closed on June 2nd with promise to ship in 7 to 10 days...all according to my purchase invoice...that should have put my order in shipment on June 12th at the latest. I have received no word about this order (aside from my purchase invoice). Being they are a week late with any shipping and I have received no word about shipping, I guess I will try my hand at reaching them before canceling the charge to my Credit Card.

My order should be here Tuesday per the tracking information which did take forever to get in an email. Hang in there.
