Was a union carpenter on one of his expansions to his empire back in the early 80s. If you talked to him, you were fired.

If you were a union carpenter in the early 80's on his job you had a job because no one else was building anything. Local 1098 I'm guessing. For Tudor Construction or a sub?
Only place really building then was Atlanta and the casinos and hotels in Atlantic City which is where this workforce went.
And fwiw-he still, 30 years later has held on to most of that campus.

Rumor had it that the hooker looked like his wife before all the plastic surgery.

Now that is the correct question. I have concluded that most churches will achieve whatever their aims are and they don't give a shite who they step on or hurt in the process as long as they are doing it in the name of their "savior". Ex-wife ran off with a minister. Instead of reaching out to my kids and me, goddamned church kept wanting to bleed us more. I quit. Even changed denominations, and still can't do the church thing. At 60, it's probably not going to happen again. I just can't get into all that BS.

A lot of weak minded people out there who want someone else to do their thinking for them.
I have major problems with anyone who is doing good strictly in hopes of getting some reward after they're dead, instead of doing the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do.

Relax brother. I don't see where I doubted but you seem like you must have said hello to Swaggart. I carried a card for 1098 many years ago. The Cavins ,Thomas's, Creels, Buratts. I knew them all. I can do something today that I'm guessing not more than a half dozen people in this city can do. Tie lath and frame a plaster ceiling with channel iron and Jerry Hartman taught me that in apprenticeship school.
But I haven't been around it in over 20 years.

I pretty much only know the stories about him that were in the news. I don't understand how people like him are able to create such a following because they all come off as used car salesmen to me.
Someone once "actively" tried to recruit me to be a member of his church. Long story short, it was the brother of some guy I knew who had become heavily involved. Dude would come to my house, the first 1 or 2 times he just came "hang out" mentioned what he was into and that was it. Then after that he started to asking me to attend shite with him. At first I was like "yeah, i might check that out with you one day"..
Thinking it would be something that would be forgotten, but after he wasn't able to get me to go.. One day I was home, had my music playing loud and he knocks on my door. I answer and he looked at me as if what I was listening to offended him.. He goes to his car, comes back with 2 or 3 copied CDs. He told me I should put that music in and feel the spirit at that point I just had to be straightforward with him. I wasn't going to weekly prayer groups, I didn't want to take any classes at a school Jimmy Swaggart started and I was for damn sure not listening to that old snake oil salesman sing gossip music.
