What exactly is the target audience for the new Ghostbusters movie?

After the abortion of the second trailer was released last week, I began to wonder just who exactly this film was made for. You can't say it was made for the fans of the franchise. Ever since Paul Feig announced his plans for the new Ghostbusters movie, the good majority of Ghostbusters fans have been against the film. The poor quality of the trailers have only reinforced our initial misgivings.
Was it made for SJWs? I doubt it. Many of them are still fuming that they made the film's one and only minority character a loud, obnoxious, and uneducated subway worker who gets hired because she "knows New York." Why you need to "know New York" in a battle with a supernatural threat is beyond me, but okay, let's go with it.
Did they make it for the casual moviegoing fan? If they did they failed tremendously. Just look at the like-to-dislike ratio on the first trailer to come to that conclusion.
So in the end it can be said that this movie appeals to no one and will most likely flop when it releases in mid-July. The fact that none of the actors have come to the rescue defending this film is very telling - they don't like it either. Thus making the reddit reports about turmoil on the set between the main cast that much more credible.

misbehaving kids. It'll teach them for acting up.

I honestly don't know who they made it for but it's first weekend will still be up there high enough to justify allowing these women to keep making shitty movies. it will make $25 to 30 million off people just unwilling to accept that the movie will be horrible and want to prove themselves correct.

This site has really become a refuge for hateful white dudes.

The movie looks fricking terrible, and it has nothing to do with race or gender.

Older Gen Xers nostalgic for the Eighties movies they came of age with. I'm sure it will be better than the original. All of these remakes are.

It will appeal to:
-Non-obsessed Ghostbusters fans
-Fans of Bridesmaids, The Heat, Spy
-Fans of Kate McKinnon waiting to see her featured in a film
-Fans of the comedy of the week who fill the theaters for any high profile comedy
It'll do better than Feig's previous films (which were all fairly successful).

I think this is the answer, but they missed the correct boat. If this was made 3 or 4 years ago the SJWs woukd champion it. Now, they have much bigger fish to fry than "women"

Eh, the movie going population falls over themselves to go watch long, abusively bad movies taken from comic books...I'm sure it will do just fine.

The only thing I want to see fail worse than this movie is Alabama football.

"I don't know if it's a race thang or a lady thang, but I'm mad as hell."
Maybe the worst joke of all time.

Probably pretty accurate. I'm still not convinced that it will do particularly well, but it will get a good number of views just because of the massive name recognition of the big name actors and the franchise. I don't think the average movie goer is that discerning. Us nerds aren't that representative of the general movie going audience.
I'm curious if it will get enough to justify the big blockbuster budget though. I just looked up that the budget is about $154 million.

Kate McKinnon is the only reason I would go see this movie. She seems hilarious in the trailers.

I think it will be horrible, but will probably see it just for the special effects.

So the movie was made for the UK. Spy killed it over there. And Heat and Identity Thief led most Int. Box office. They seem to like this new trend.
