And a new DA who won't aggressively prosecute it because he's "down with the cause".

Guarantee the number will rise to 13 by Sunday morning.

A large percent of the population in West Shreveport and the immediate surrounding area have zero fricks to give as far as the value of life.

I think as the number rises, we will see some retaliation killings thrown in there also.

There were 28 homicides in Shreveport in 2015. They are almost halfway there in the 5th month of this year.

28 is nothing. In the 80's there were more than double that for multiple years. It was a war zone, the fire dept. had to have police escort into certain neighborhoods.

Yeah 28 isnt shite. I almost had a hard time believing that number.

I would quadruple it for shootings that didnt end in death.

Curious what the national stats show for this year

Murders are up in roughly 30 cities nationwide so far in 2016, according to data released by the Major Cities Chiefs Association on Friday. Nearly half of the cities surveyed showed increases in homicides in the first quarter of this year compared with 2015, when the murder rate in many U.S. cities rose after decades of decline.

Shreveport had 17 murders in 2011/2012 and 16 murders in 2014. The murder rate was declining but now it's been going up the last 2 years.

20 each in 2011 and 2012

29 in 2013

28 each in 2014 and 2015

I think the past few years have been fueled by social media. They get riled up at each other on Facebook and Twitter and someone takes it too far.

Is there a commonality to all these crimes? Maybe we could figure it out and address the root of the problem.

These cretins need to be culled anyway so I don't see it as anything more than a cleansing of the gene pool. And I feel a little guilty for posting that but I get really tired of people and social media stupidity. I would have been much more comfortable as Thoreau living out in the middle of nowhere back in the day than being surrounded by the insanity of the masses we see today.
