Penn State knew Sandusky was a pedophile in 1971.

Penn State’s legal settlements with Jerry Sandusky’s accusers cover alleged abuse dating to 1971, which was 40 years before his arrest, the university said Sunday, providing the first confirmation of the time frame of abuse claims that have led to big payouts.
The disclosure came as Penn State President Eric Barron decried newly revealed allegations that former football coach Joe Paterno was told in 1976 that Sandusky had sexually abused a child and that two assistant coaches witnessed either inappropriate or sexual contact in the late 1980s. Paterno, who died in 2012, had said the first time he had received a complaint against Sandusky was in 2001.
That’s far more disgusting than we knew previously. How many children did the pervert molest in the over 40 years he had a free hand to do so? Hundreds? Thousands?
The university has paid out more than $90 million to settle more than 30 civil claims involving Sandusky.
And those are just the ones still alive and still willing to be publicly humiliated by those at Penn who will continue to defend the beast.
Joe Paterno covered it all up. All for a stupid game. He’s as guilty as sin.

He's dead.
Other freak will die in jail.
Let it go.

This covers such a long time frame and was just such a cover up that I wouldn't be floored at this point if evidence ever come up that JoePa was a pedo, too.

Do you even 2016, bro? No one cares about perverts anymore. Everything's fair game.

really should be remembered more for being a sick frick who allowed this to go on than what he did as a coach

So people that were in high school and grade school when this happened should be held accountable?

This board believes that SJW's are worst than pedophiles. So this story will get no traction here.

I'm not sure people on here realize, but many if not most of the big time boosters for Penn State, as well as their general fans, continue to deny JoePa has any culpability. They are currently trying to clear his name. They simply put their heads in the sand and ignore the facts.
Why? Because they are just like their coach was. The reputation of their school is more important than the rape of children. It's mind boggling, but it's the way Penn State fans are programmed.

I know this old guy through business. Graduate and huge donor. I would see him a couple times a year. The entire time, he would scream outrage about what the press and the rest of America was doing to this gentle man's persona. He's convinced JoePa, and the university, had no idea it was happening and hold no responsibility. Whatsoever. None.
And he says most graduates feel exactly as he does. Sandusky was just one minor bad apple in the midst of thousands of fantastic apples. So we shouldn't go forming opinions based on one slightly bad apple.

I used to have respect for JoPa, not that he would have given a shite, but I find it very hard to believe that he and others at PSU were completely in the dark about this, especially as anal and micromanaging as he was for most of his career

I find it creepy that Penn St sings Sweet Caroline at their home games.
"Touching you, touching me" is a fitting line for them
