I was excited about Bain when the season started it seemed he was going to contend for the Sunday starter
I talked with his dad yesterday at the game and he said Austin is finally feeling confident that he is 100% following his bone spur removal surgery last year. Austin's throwing muscles atrophied more than anyone expected during the layoff which has been a factor affecting his velocity.

Good scoop, thxs for sharing.
We'll need all these arms beginning right now.

Totally understand that...thx for the info...his velocity the last couple of outings has been good...wonder if he will he able to start a game this season, that would be a big help in the post season...

I'm probably just wearing my really thick purple and gold glasses resulting from the Arkansas sweep but I can't help but feel the pieces are finally coming together for a strong push to finish this season. I'm trying not to get too optimistic but it has happened before under Mainieri and I sure am hoping it's happening again.....

We do not have a lot of tired arms that's for sure.
If we get Bain on track, the Gilbert kid going five full, with Newman and Bugg back to form; things are looking up.
Add in Reynolds and the rest of the staff and we suddenly have an effective pen.
Poche' is key here. We need him to return to form sooner than later. Hopefully Dunn can identify something, tune him up and he'll once again be a very good starter.

I want to think this way as well. With that said, we were two pitches from losing this series. Sometimes a little luck blinds us.

Lost in the Arkansas sweep is the fact that LSU clinched a place in the SEC tournament.
Not that we were in danger of not finishing in the top 12 SEC teams but at least one Rant poster that I can recall predicted after the Miss. St. and Ole Miss series that we were NOT going to Hoover this year.
ETA: And here is one of the Rant's baseball experts saying last November there was a "good chance" we would not make it to either the SEC tournament or the NCAA tournament this season.

This will be the difference in LSU upsetting a team during super regional play or getting bounced out in regional play.
The past 3-4 weeks Jared's complete lack of control with the fastball has absolutely killed him. If you have a chance go and rewatch the first two innings of every game, continually getting behind in the count and then serving up batting practice fastballs. Hitters know its coming and I've waited for Dunn to pitch backwards with hitters on the curve/change but it just hasn't happened. I hope he's able to get back on track against Tennessee because Florida is an extremely patient and disciplined group.
1st inning - 2 runs @ Missouri, 4 runs Mississippi St., 2 runs @ Ole Miss, 2 runs Arkansas.

Ever the optimist, right josh?

You see some crazy stuff on here. After the second Tulane loss, someone here (I believe tzimme) predicted a baseball collapse at the end of the season, based only on the fact that it had happened to football and basketball. He wouldn't shut up about it through the Ole Miss series, but I haven't heard from him lately. Wonder why?

I feel like I'm usually pretty grounded on here. But whatever.

Anything negative that happens results in those fans believing the sky is falling and all hope is lost.....

Would not be shocked to see Bryce Adams get a few at bats down stretch, hit one out of the stadium during bp on sat.

I think Poches problem is throwing too many pitches right down the heart of the plate. Even with his breaking ball, he's been leaving it up right in strike zone. His stuff is not good enough for that, he has to locate his pitches better.

The few recent games that ive watched Poche pitch it seemed the umpire was squeezing the strike zone in the 1st inning and not giving any corners and this has to frustrate a pitcher. The 2 games I am referring to were Moo St and Ole Piss. I didn't get to see him in the Arky game because I was cooking a jambalaya for the game and by the time I was finished Poche was pulled.

Playing well in the field? Geez, he looks terrible out there! He does have a powerful bat.
