Satisfied with mediocrity & no accountability - The Joe Alleva Story

How is either basketball coach still employed?
Is it acceptable now for the once-dominant LSU baseball program to have a rebuilding year? What happened to national powers reloading (see Bama football)?
Has any member of the media asked about these things?

Make LSU Athletics Great Again

why do these threads seem to pop up every time we lose a midweek baseball game?

Why do you keep popping up in these threads after a mid week baseball game?

Yes.
And it's "dominant".

As for basketball... Your guess is a good as mine. The sooner Jones is gone, the better.

When Les Miles was given his last contract revision Alleva said "it is not about winning Championships but being in the hunt for them", or something to that effect. You can argue that at any point in any teams season they are "in the hunt" for a Championship until they are not. So according to the standards that he laid out for the coach in the most important sport financially at LSU, year in and year out all sports are meeting his goals and are not mediocre. It's all about what you expect and accept, just as in life.

I understand that we dominated a decade, and we are still today looked at as great program, and people are disappointed with postseason success, but this is one of the stupidest questions I've ever read.

King is more concerned with making LSU look poor. No one is going to be fired.

Let's see,
Johnny Jones has had more success inheriting a terrible situation when Trent left and has done better than anyone since Dale Brown. Just because a lottery pick could not should the load and lead this team at the end of the schedule does not mean Jones hasn't been successful.
PM inherited the mess Smoke left, this program Skip had built was on life support. PM changed the culture and you can't argue with this teams success long term.
If not for Saban going to Bama, Miles has been fine.
Alleva does need to go though.

John Brady > Johnny Jones

Other than 2011, how would Miles have been just fine? Arkansas and Ole Miss seem to have his number as well. So let me fix it for you:
If not for November, Miles has been fine.
His poor coaching hires (prior to the last 2 years) and not foreseeing recruiting issues until it's too late has been his biggest problem of all. Lack of depth and QB development have killed us in November.

I wonder how well Joe played at the Zurich pro-am this morning?

The board gave us Alleva and Fking. Blame them.

Glad you could bring some new thoughts to the Rant. Usually we get the same thing over and over.

It's called the LSU 4th Quarter Collapse
75% into LSU Football's schedule the (7-0) Tigers lost to Bama and collapsed the rest of the season winning just 1 remaining regular season game. (25% winning percentage)
78% in the LSU Basketball schedule the (16-9) Tigers lost to Bama and collapsed the rest of the season winning just 2 remaining regular season games. (33% winning percentage)
Last night (27-13) LSU was going into 74.5% of the schedule played losing to Tulane. So its acceptable if the Baseball team falls apart with the remaining games on the year.
