I cook with their pork and it has been really good. From shoulder to hocks, it has all been good to cook with. They sometimes have chicken feet in a two pound bag which makes incredible broth.

Because using taxpayer money is the same as people willingly donating money to help support a business that they like?

Im done... Ive made my point
Posted on 4/30/16 at 10:16 am to gmrkr5
if your point was that you have no point and have no idea what you are bitching about then yes, you're done here
Posted on 4/30/16 at 10:19 am to cgrand
My point was a kickstarter seems a little silly when your proposed shop is on some of the most expensive real estate in town.
I think i've made it pretty clear what i was bitching about. If you cant deduce that from my post you need to open your eyes

Its a small lot between an appliance store and a place to board your pets on Perkins where there arent many neighboring businesses.
Lets not act like this is going up on 3rd street, Perkins Rowe, or Towne Center.

Right across from Rouzan right?
Posted on 4/30/16 at 11:23 am to gmrkr5
yes, its across from a developing neighborhood.

I wasn't implying anything. Was kust making sure i knew exactly where its supposed to be. However, i think you can consider the Southdowns/Rouzan area pretty pricey real estate

I dont consider the area pricey real estate. Take a look at whats around it. Not much that screams $$

Wow you food people sure like to argue. I stumbled on this topic and from a non foodie perspective no way this place makes it long term. If y'all are right and beef will be double and chicken 25% more no way Baton Rouge supports that kind of place. Only so many people in BR with such levels of disposable income and farm to table mentality. Are these people going to actually raise the volume of animals needed for this to work?

Honestly I'd be willing to throw a couple $$ their way to get some cuts I can't find at WF. I could give a shite about dinner with jay ducote. Agree with others in that I don't see this place being sustainable long term

Double the price of what places currently?
Beef prices/quality around Baton Rouge are all over the place.
Does it really take that much disposable income to pay 25% more for chicken, which is already pretty cheap as a whole?

Well if its true what you said originally, they wont need many animals because they will be out of business sooner than later

Look I never even heard about this place inversteins until just reading this thread. I'm just going by what other people said in this thread about what their prices will be. But most people in BR are not like y'all and willing to pay a premium everyday for beef and chicken. I don't give a frick if this place ever opens or lasts forever I'm just giving an opinion from a "common" person which is what makes up most of BR in "everyday" food purchases. All I'm saying is this place better sell cracklins / boudin balls and cheap stuffed chickens if it's going to make it. But then what do I know about overpriced food. In my opinion Target's chickens are overpriced. LOL

They will probably make most of their money selling to restaurants

Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Maxwells, Calandros, and Roberts all laugh at this statement.

They dont seem to be aiming for the crowd that goes to Tonys.
Im not saying the place will fail or not fail, but there is a market in BR for this kind of place.
