In season 3, he's this sheltered kid with an overbearing father but with a golden arm. It was an interesting dynamic. And then in season 4, they turn him into a punk arse bitch who is full of himself. Then in season 5, when he's supposed to be a junior at Dillon, he's no longer the quarterback and it's never explained why.
I'm rewatching FNL and this is pissing me off more some reason.

yea that bothered me too. The writers weren't always consistent in the storylines.

I've seen a few instances in various online places that state it's due to the writer's strike & all the uncertainty with NBC at the time of the show's run.
that said, going from sheltered to QB1 at Dillon isn't that much a stretch to turn a HS kid into a douche.

I liked him better as a good kid. Haha.
Yeah, the writers strike stuff changed a lot of the dynamic of how FNL went.. It directly influenced the stuff with Smash.. and how they wanted to give him some sort of another send off. Idk.
I need to watch the show again.

Looking back at season 1, those were the oldest, most developed high school sophomores I've ever seen.

After my re-watch biggest take away I had was holy shite there are a lot of adults in Dillon that like to sleep with high school kids

JD McCoy was the comedic humor in his first season. He was the young kid who was just trying to fit in.
Then once he became THE man, his personality changed like it would with a lot of 15-year-olds who are the starting QB at their Texas high schools. He was a pussy, then became the alpha that probably pulled threesomes with Dillon cheerleaders and their moms.
Also, Landry would have had to have been in middle school at the beginning of the show to still attend East Dillon. Unless I'm mistaken, Riggins was a sophomore at the beginning that somehow was best friends with a senior quarterback, which is SO realistic, right?
Regardless, Voodoo Tatum is the GOAT.

Freshman in season 1, sophomore season 2, junior season 3, senior at East in season 4.
