I mean........we're talking about internet-warrior-fanboy reactions to a youtube video.

But OK.

Point me in the direction of the sector of video gamers that are not internet-warrior-fanboys. Because that's what you get when you advertise and communicate through social media like this...you open yourself up to the people that use it.

Anyway, Lew is right...2017 is going to be legit with MW2 and BF going WWII.

If COD4 isn't a part of this, those numbers aren't as skewed.

MW2 is the one I'm more interested in personally. COD4 is the genesis, but like I've previously stated, it's pretty dated.

skewed in which way tho. If they had separate reveal trailers, I'd like to see that comparison. I know it's too late now, being in year 3 of a dev cycle, but the Inifinity Ward Devs have got to be at least disheartened by these stats

I think it's predictable backlash. Games in general are under constant attack from perceived incompleteness or just being flat-out broken. They will weather the storm because they have to know the feeling of the gaming market about futuristic shooters. The people who buy this package from the get-go are going to realize they paid $80 for an almost 10 year old game and will give IW a shot, and maybe Infinity Ward is confident that after giving it a shot people will remain brand loyal. Our nostalgia doesn't run the market.

I mean, if you don't throw the COD name on it, I think a lot of people are legit interested in what this game will be. Infinity Ward threw the loyalists a bone, waited for the inevitable backlash, and will now wait and see.

You can look at the downvotes on the trailer on Youtube...it's nearly 2:1. Nobody wants Rocket Man the video game, bro. Not from Call of Duty, anyway. They want two things: modern or WWII. Nobody wants moon boots and lasers. Well, some people might, but those people lick windows and get rejection letters from the Special Olympics.

I'm in for CoD4 Remastered and I'm probably willing to see if it will be sold separately after a time. I don't want to give IW any credit because that game, although it might be okay, is not what I want. And I don't think I'm stretching it to say there are a lot of people like me...maybe even in the majority.

During an earnings call today, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg was asked about the mass dislikes flooding Call of Duty's YouTube channel. Hirshberg did his best to stay positive and provide some context. Here's his response:

First of all, you gotta love the passion of gamers. This is an industry like no other and a fan base like no other. We love that our fans treat this franchise like their own and have such strong points of view about it. There just aren't many entertainment franchises on earth that can generate the kind of passion that Call of Duty can... and that's a good thing.

Secondly, of course, we know there are people in our community who are nostalgic for the boots on the ground-style gameplay; that's why we made Modern Warfare Remastered. But we also have millions of people in our community who want to have new innovative experiences in the game each year and Infinite Warfare is going to deliver that.

The good news is this year we found a way to deliver both in one package while keeping our community together. While of course we see the passionate opinions online, we also look at other measurements and the fact is — while it's very early — pre-orders are off to a very strong start. Views of the reveal trailer ... are up and, in fact, the number of likes per view on the Infinite Warfare trailer are the highest we've ever seen.

We've seen this in the franchise before. The reveal trailer for Black Ops 2, which took the franchise into the future for the first time, had the most dislikes of any reveal trailer we had ever made at that time. And that went on to become our most successful game ever.

Right now, the franchise has never been stronger. We have more people playing Black Ops 3, a game that takes place in the future, with boost jumps and fictitious weapons, than any game in our history.

What we know for sure is that if we always just did what worked in the past and never took any creative risks, we wouldn't have a franchise. The day to worry is the day we stop trying new things.

Activision posted record earnings for its first quarter today, with revenues of $1.46 billion for the three months ended March 31. Monthly active players for Call of Duty, Activision said, were up both quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year, "setting another all-time record for the franchise."

AKA. We don't GAF what you think, cuz we still stacking that paper.

More power to them. At least he was honest. They are doing the COD4 remaster to appease the fans that are sick of the future shite. The are keeping the future shite because its made them piles of cash.

What you should take away from that.
