How Much Should A Pro Charge To Paint An Exterior Door?

The fiancee wants to have our front door painted red. I'd do it, but I know red is a bitch to mess with, so I'd rather just hire it out.
It's a standard size exterior solid wood 8 panel door. Any idea on a price for this not including paint & primer?

I paid $400 for two doors and four shutters but I have no idea if that price is good or if I got screwed.....

A bush baby and some girl scout cookies should do the trick.

Wtf dude, take $30 and go to home Depot and ask them what you need. That's like 30 minutes of work.

I can't fathom paying someone to paint a fricking door. Just go buy some sandpaper and paint and do that shite yourself

For a quality job you want it sprayed I am not cleaning a sprayer of your paint for less than 500.

You're painting a door man, not the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Maybe without sanding and just one coat. What a dumb post.

Seriously, I would do the door painting myself, but if I were a sub (like the OP) having anyone come to your house and do any home improvement or maintenance for $400 is not worth worrying about.

$30 wouldn't cover the paint. Painting a front door AND doing a decent job is not as easy as most of y'all are saying it is. If it was, i'd do it myself. It's going to need to be sanded, primed with a tinted primer (b/c of the red), high quality paint that will require at least 3 coats and hopefully self level to eliminate brush strokes. Like I said, red is a pain in the arse and I want it to look good.
Guess I'll start calling painters for quotes.

Agreed. With painting, it is usually better to hire someone. I recently painted a room in my house, and I thought it looked great. For the first day.
Now it seems like I'm always finding a spot here or a spot there that I hate and it bugs me. The walls didn't soak in the paint like I thought they would. Tiny white specks are visible in some places.
Wish I would've paid someone else to do it.
Don't let the pompous OT attitudes get to you.

Oh, they don't bother me. You always have to weed through about 80% of the responses to get to the helpful ones.
Plus you have to figure most of them are just gonna go the opposite of my question. If I ask how to do it myself, many of the responses would have been OT ballers hire painters. If I ask how much should I pay a pro, the responses were bound to be that I'm lazy and should just do it myself

I'm not really sure what a good price is, but you can buy red painted aluminum doors for $300ish dollars, so I'd suggest looking for a price less than that.
I'm not suggesting these are the quality of door you want, but it seems like a good place to start.

That's an interesting idea and something to possibly consider.
