Luggage for lengthy (9 weeks) Europe trip

Usually where you stay does Laundry everyday and some have Laundry that you can do your own. I only use one bag and just underwear, socks, slacks, and shirt. If you need something additional you can buy it. I usually bring a good towel and wash rag, my own soap and shampoo, and a bag of Razors cheap. You will be ok and I have been to 16 countries!

All I packed was a booksack( Oakley kitchen sink or something) and a little fold out back pack that came with the booksack (similar to a draw string bag but better)

The airbnbs we stayed at had washers but no dryers, some cities we found places to do our laundry for 8 bucks. wash, dry, fold, iron

Bring comfortable clothes and shoes, i would suggest a pair of jeans and a 2 pair of khakis( not a dressy pair but durable) a few SSBDs( short sleeve button downs) some light material shirts for hiking and something to swim in. Again shoes are important as you will be walking a lot. I would also say a decent pair of sunglass although you can get a pair off of any street corner once there. Rolling your stuff makes it fit easier and i suggest trying to stay with just one or two bags both of which meet ryanair carry on protocol. we flew ryanair and a few other cheap airlines and nobody had any problems but i hear of peoples horror stories

Bring head phones and music, helps on long trains and busses or a book but it made me sick when trying to read. i bought all shampoo and toothpaste once we landed in Europe just so i didn't have to deal with that at security in USA.

this might sound stupid but bring a diary and actually right in it, EVERYDAY, i brought one and wrote for the first two days. then quit because it was "too much work" but the other day i found it and started reading it. Its cool to go back and remember the small things. the convos with cab drivers where you ate and just strange shite you saw. wish i would have kept it up.

I always take my Redwing Backpack LINK. In europe when you are going through train stations,up steps, walking to your hostel/ hotel, etc. Its a lot easier to carry a backpack than a suitcase, especially a rolling suitcase. I have a small backpack I use as a carry on and carry it on my front....like Sarah Silverman here.

Then get packing cubes LINK. These keep your clothes organized and make it super easy to pull things out of your backpack.

I used gallon size ziplocs and would squeeze all the air out to fit as much as possible.

that is too bit. you really only need the osprey 48 if you are bringing a backpack

I recommend a backpack small enough to fit on a flight without checking a bag.
