Damn - how did I forget about the Mohawk??

The last two time I have been there the food and service was spot on.

If you dare venture to the south side, Big Momma's is the best soul food I've ever had. The hot water cornbread with a side of melted butter, I can't even describe it

Big momma's is probably my favorite meal I have had while living here.

big mooma's> the kitchen

It's a good restaurant. Hell, I'll even say really really good. Subjectively, it probably wouldn't crack the top 20 in New Orleans. It's as good as any trying to do what it does, here, though.

Cotton and cory could use the competition of a more diverse food scene. They do a lot of things really well.

can't really go wrong with either. Monroe is only city that I have ever seen hot water cornbread on a menu. I thought it was restricted to my grandma's kitchen

Seafood- The Mohawk!

If in the correct neighborhoods in Nola, it'd have a line out the door most days.

I was told Mohawk owns their own oyster bed(s) in the gulf and has sourced their oysters from the same spot for 50 years. You ever heard such?

Can't say I have Mr. Balls. But the oysters are always good.

I like breakfast at The Kitchen, but it doesn't compare to Big Momma's imo

Fish House in Sterlington, Mohawk's, Danken, and Trapp's are definitely great Lunch spots. When I want some greasy food I head to Ray's PeGe and get an open face and some Q's.

Gut bomb food-
Daqs and Pickle Barrell are always solid, I prefer Pickle Barrell due to my friend owning it and the beer selections.
Danken Trail poboys always hit the spot.
Catfish Charlie's has great fried food

Nice spots--
If u like Mexican, River and Rail is a little pricey but is good and has great atmosphere on the River.
Cotton is great
Been to Doe's twice, didn't like the tamales but the ribeye was awesome, porterhouse I didn't care for
I've heard great things about Genusa's ribeye, can't wait to try it
Haven't been to Mohawk or Waterfront in years for some reason.
Portico is usually solid, great beer selections.
Fat Pelican has good fresh seafood dishes.

Whatever you do, don't venture into West Monroe to eat under any circumstance. It may be a little cleaner and more republican over here. But the food is gosh damn disgrace. Chain hell over here!!

I can't really offer any advice that hasn't already been said.

If your meal was good then they fricked up and cooked it right for once. That place is the most underachieving restaurant in Monroe when it comes to food. Great location, cool building, awesome atmosphere, but shite food and service.

I haven't been and never spent any time in Monroe so probably shouldn't comment, but I suspect you may be possibly exaggerating a bit

But, you still did comment,,, so what do you base your intelligent comment on, certainly not intelligence?
Do some research on Cory, see how many times he's kicked the asses of "famous chefs" from your adopted town,, jus sayin'.
