For Maui, Go on a booze cruise at sunset or parasail. Some may recommend the road to Hana, but I would only suggest it if you really enjoy getting car sick.

Mountainbike tour in Maui. They'll take you to the top so you literally descend he entire ride. It's pretty fun.

A few things we have done, in no order:
- helicopter ride (we did it on both islands, but Kaui was better)
- four wheeling (we did this on Kaui)
- snorkeling
- drive the road to Hana in Maui (I didn't care for this, as I was driving and the road was winding...hard to enjoy the view while driving)
- chill by the pool and drink (did this the most)
- we went scuba diving once after we completed a beginner course at the hotel's pool...we could only go down 30 feet but it was still awesome...
next time we go, we will try mountain biking in SE part of Maui...and hiking in Kaui...and fishing.

Whale Watching good in Maui
Helicopter Tour is cool in Maui
Bike down Haliakala in Maui
All of those are good, but in my opinion the road to Hana is the thing that you must do while in Hawaii. Rent a Jeep and get started early in the morning by eating breakfast in Paia, then get in front of the tour busses. Also, buy the book "Maui Revealed"...it's a great unbiased look at Maui and is very helpful for Road to Hana.

Moutain biking down Waimea Canyon on Kauai was really cool. It also basically a coast downhill just not as steep as Haliakala in Maui.

Kauai is so amazing. We stayed on the north shore and were glad we did. We enjoyed that side of the island way more than the south.
My favorite activity was the boat tour of the Napali coast.
We used this company LINK / and they were great.

Kau'i - hike the napali coast. Get there early parking is an issue later in the morning. Hike up to the falls.
Also, spend a day on Tunnels beach.

Just spent a week in Kaui and had the greatest time. Rented a jeep and drove the entire island. We stayed on the east side which gave great access to the entire island. I agree with the post above that the north shore was the most scenic. Definitely make the drive to the Waimea Canyon, what a beautiful area. Queens Bath was my favorite site on the north side, along with the lighthouse near there. Poipu beach is on the south side and seems to be the more ritzy area.

Northshore or southshore in Kauai?
Posted on 4/14/16 at 3:07 pm to LSU Tigershark
Northshore for sure. It's so lush and beautiful. We stayed in Princeville.
Like another poster said, easy to rent a jeep and tour the entire island.

Oh I definitely agree. Princeville all the way. I was wondering what the OP has lined up, for recommendations in that area.

I think I'll be on the south side of Kau'i, but I'm going to rent a car/jeep.
Thanks to all for the great ideas!

Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour on Kuaui.
Posted on 4/14/16 at 3:40 pm to GumboPoBoy
Went on our honeymoon for 7 nights in Maui back in Feb.
5 in Ka'anapali and 2 in Hana
Rented a jeep and drove everywhere.
Things we did:
-Spent time in Lahaina for Front Street. Awesome little town
-Surf lessons at Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy in Lahaina
-Sail to Lana'i with Trilogy Tours. Manele Bay is absolutely stunning.
-Sunrise bike tour on Haleakala
-Old Lahaina Luau
-Jumped off Blackrock at Ka'anapali Beach
-Road to Hana. The long way around the NE side of the island through Kapalua and Kahakuloa. Stopped at Nakelele Blowhole, Olivine pools, black sand, red sand, pipiwaii, ohe'o gulch, Hamoa Beach etc. etc.
I'd recommend staying 1 night in Hana if you can swing it. Totally worth it, so you aren't having to turn around and drive back the same day. Can take your time. Hana is an amazing place.
People have mentioned Maui revealed. It's good.
I bought an app (for $9.99) called Gypsy Guide - Maui
Has a tour of the entire Island on it. Totally worth it
Places to eat: Mama's, Dukes, 808 Grindz Cafe and Sunrise Cafe for Breakfast. I've heard Sansei for sushi, Lahaina Grill and Merriman's are all great.
Things we'd 100% do again.
Bike tour, and Sail to Lana'i for sure.
And we'd stay in Hana longer than 2 nights.
ETA: If you're in Hana on a Fri or Sat night, check out Hana farms. It's BYOB and they make pizzas in outdoor stone ovens from scratch using all ingredients grown right there on the farm. Delicious stuff.

Kauai is amazeballs. Some personal recommendations:
Kauai Surf School- private lessons are pretty expensive, but group lessons are only $75/person & it's only 4 people max per group!
Hiking in Waimea Canyon. Get lunch at the shrimp shack while you're out there! It looks ghetto but the coconut shrimp is the best I've ever had
Na Pali coast- more great hiking!
Plantation Garden Restaurant & Bar (Poipu)- beautiful gardens surrounding the restaurant! Good for a meal or a happy hr cocktail
Josselin's Tapas Bar & Grill. They have a roll around sangria cart that they bring up to the tables and serve you! The lychee sangria is amaaaazing!
The Beach House restaurant
Go to koloa fish market and get poke (pronounced poke-ay)!
Cheap day time lunch food- Da Crack (tex mex)
Get a drink at the St Regis in Princeville overlooking the ocean
