Why wouldnt they?

Im trying to tell some people who may be skeptical. People that dont smoke marijuana arent just going to start using because it is legal. Nothing would change other than the fact it would be regulated and taxed. Your day to day life will not change at all.

I could just see that being the next argument....that you shouldn't be allowed to fire someone for using a legal product on their time.

The argument that too many people are sent to prison for weed is ridiculous. Weed may have factored into an arrest but prison is the result of years, and multiple frick ups. Not just getting caught with personal use a time or two

I would say it is prob overblown, but for that guy that cant afford bail, how long does he sit in jail? 6 months?

0-60lbs possession carries a 6 month sentence in LA for first time offense. 2nd offense could land you 5 years. anything after that you are looking at 20 years.

what? If I cracked open a beer at worked I would be fired on the fricking spot. Why would weed be any different? Plus the people who smoke weed are already smoking it and going to work as it is. Im trying to say your life would not change at all. Except maybe they will finally fix that pot hole you dodge everyday coming home from work.

I'm not talking about at work.

I'm talking about companies would still have the right to require drug testing and be able to fire those who test positive.

It's not that I find it unreasonable. I just find it untrue.

Lets face it. If I own a company that had people running heavy equipment, I sure as hell don't want a drunk or stoner operating anything.

What a stupid argument. Do social drinkers drink while on the job? What makes you think someone who smokes pot occasionally is going to decide to light up before operating a crane? Why would it being legal increase the chances of someone doing this?

I just do not want to be on the highway with people who have another means of being less alert. There are too many killed with drunks on the road.

Then who ever is testing them is an idiot. Hell you may as well start testing for alcohol off the job, and tobacco from weekend cigars.

I would never work for someone that demanded those things, and I suspect most people wouldn't either. It's not the best way to attract talent.

How do you feel about car manufacturers putting full blown computers into the dash with internet access?

people are already driving high out there. Legalizing it will make a negligible difference in the amount of people who do. It's not like pot is hard to obtain as is.

Exactly.

Why to people think legalization will result in a bunch of people getting high and driving around?

The LA Senate hearing is going on now. One of the senators in opposition just sounds silly. This will be the most restrictive medical program in the entire nation. If anyone is interested - LINK

So basically legislators telling physicians how, when, where to prescribe? Sounds like a good plan.

That's correct - it has to be recommended by a licensed LA physician (not a practitioner), for only up to 100 patients per doc, for a limited set of disease states, and all recommendations will be closely monitored. And this is ONLY for oil products, not smokable or edible products.

Fred Mills is killing it.

"Did your mama ever tell you if 41 other people jumped off the bridge, would you also?" -Senator in opposition

"No, my mama never told me that." -Mills
