I have some low spots in my yard. Where should I go to get some cheap sand in Baton Rouge? Anyone have a bunch of bags already filled from one of the recent storms I can come get?

Lowe's or Home Depot has playground sand pretty cheap. It should be about $3 or $4 for a 50 lb bag. Usually near the rocks/gravel in the lawn and garden area. I filled some spots in my yard with it several years ago. If you're needing a bunch of it try somewhere else, but just for filling a few small spots it does the trick.

If you are going to use sand, use masonry sand. You can find it at any lumber/hardware store. However, you can just use top soil that you would find anywhere as well.

This. Lowes actually had a sale on it yesterday. $2.50 for 50 lb bags. I picked up 5 to fill the holes that the weeds I killed left in my yard.

As someone said, use bleached sand. You won't introduce new weeds and junk in your yard. This tip was given to me by a landscape friend.

I found a guy in Watson that delivers for $150/15 yd truck. It will be more to get it to BR, but that's really cheap fill sand. Depends on how much you need.

Cleggs and Woerner are probably best bet for delivered. Word of warning though since its springtime most landscape places are on week+ backlog for deliveries.

I find that individual bags are much, much easier to deal with. Ive given up on dealing with bulk. It costs a little more but it is worth it.

Instead of starting a new thread, I will just ask here, where is the best place to get a truck load of topsoil? I just had concrete poured and built a fence, my yard is completely torn up from concrete trucks and the delivery of fence materials. Beyond that, it's uneven and bumpy. I'm thinking a load of dirt will solve all my problems.

Anyone know where I can get a truck load of dirt in Walker? Also, I guess a mini skid steer is probably the best way to spread it out, no?

Check all the local creeks. After the last flood, most around me deposited a foot or more of beautiful sand. Amazing how mother nature rebuilds itself when given a chance
