I'm still somewhat nervous until I hear that Miles has signed the extension and Michigan has signed someone else.

Of course. But you need to understand what wrong is. I would bet a lot that they had very good information on some level...probably a very detailed level.
But their conclusion was wrong.
The bottom line is that Miles hadn't accepted the job yet.
