Les miles clause

Could someone explain legalize of les miles clause. Does it terminate any notion of a buyout to the assistant coach if miles is fired?

Aranda and Cameron's contracts are no longer tied to Miles' job security. We would not have landed Aranda under the "Miles clause" after what transpired last season.

Just my interpretation of what I've heard, but it sounds like they're trying to give the assistants some job security in case the HC decides to stay stubborn and gets what almost came to him last year. Probably a good selling point in getting them to hire on, considering the situation.
I'm probably completely wrong though.

But new coaches want to bring their own guy in so if a change is made you are paying out a lot of contracts now.
Not sure what the industry standard is in regards to this with assistants, but I suppose it is tied to how much stroke the HC has, and after the "Fiasco" I guess Les now has more.

I was hoping someone would explain things better here today. LSU and Louisiana policy in general seems kinda like the Atchafalaya - it stays pretty murky.

If the article from a few weeks ago is correct, Cameron still has the clause and Aranda doesn't.

Camero'ns contract still has the miles clause.

As it should. He's CLM's guy. If CLM is no longer the head coach, hiring another HC will be tough if he can't bring in his own staff.

As I understand it if Les is fired, any assistant with the clause that is not retained by the new staff only gets a buyout of 6 months. whereas any staff that does not have the clause would get their entire buyout.

according to dandy don cam is the only coach that has the clause. it's strange to say the least as cam just resigned his new contract.
this is a guess only. since our offense has completely sucked for two years and he's the OC and the QB coach the terms of his contract reflect his piss poor performance (imo).
having QB issues is one thing but all of the dysfunction on the offense is someone's fault. cam is responsible for sure (and I think it's his damn fault too). what amazes me is that when cam came out of the booth for the bowl game the confusion on offense went away. maybe its him and BH. who knows.

In '05, Les kept the OC who almost replaced his garbage arse last December in Jimbo Fisher

Another Alleva fiasco, just trying to get out of buyouts for the overpaid assistants on staff that Miles won't let coach
Posted on 3/31/16 at 11:17 am to nicholastiger
i think alleva is open to keeping the productive recruiters and coaches on staff in the effect that miles were to be replaced... Alleva would want to keep Aranda/ Orgeron/ Jaluke/ Grimes/ Craig and Raymond, the others its seems like he doesnt feel confident in retaining if Miles were to go.. Ensminger/Peveto/ Cameron etc... If Miles were to be fired and the others without the contract cause leave on their own, well no buyout.. so I actually agree with what Alleva did here.. I would want to keep Aranda, Bebe, Raymond/Jaluke/Craig/and Grimes... those are all very solid coaches that even a new coach would love to have, they are all outstanding recruiters. Bring in a offensive minded head coach, with his new OC and TE Coach and let Aranda bring in his own LB coach/Special teams guy and you have a new staff fairly easily if it were to happen... problem is they wont fire him at 9-3 or 10-2 when he has a team that should win the SEC title and realisticly the NT this year... face it 9-3 and 10-2 is underachieving this year.

Doesnt change the fact that the best coach with the mosy talent loses to inferior teams every year.
Hell lsu posters on here say ole miss is an inexcusable loss and theyve beaten bama two years in row. Arkansas led bama for 3.5 quarters.

And after all that, Saban still has 4 National Championships and 4 SEC Championships in his texture there. I would trade losing to 1 inferior team a year and still winning National title than lose to 3 or 4 inferior teams a year and playing in Music city or Texas bowls any day.
