Headed there next week and can get a round in and want to know where to play? The tour is keeping me out of GC of Houston, if you could get on anywhere where would you play?
Staying near Pearland area if that helps but will travel......

Champions or Lochinvar. Can't go wrong with either.

Second person to recommend, both in good shape?

Even the member course?

I second MWP. Wildcat is pretty decent, and not too far from where you will be. Otherwise, Blackhorse.

If I'm gonna play it I wanna play the tournament course.

If you can really get on Lochinvar, hook a random poster up.

Yes. They use it for pro-am and parking lot for clubhouse/locker rooms/etc are all reserved for players.

Yea. Play Lochinvar if you want a cool country club experience. Champions if you want a cool course that hosted the US Open. Play the Cypress Course at Champions if you decide that route.

Take a look at Augusta Pines. Not relatively hard, but a good layout, and it was in impeccable shape when I played around this time a year ago.

Can you get on anywhere? Carlton Woods Fazio course is probably the best manicured course in the area, ROCC just finished a complete renovation and is in incredible shape, and Lochinvar is Lochinvar. If you can get on any of those, do it.
If you have to go public, I guess blackhorse or cypresswood traditions course would be my suggestion. Wildcat is unique for being in Houston and having some degree of elevation changes, but they are awful proud of the course for what it is.

lochinvar and champions are private courses, and i'm pretty sure the poster knows those aren't available ... there are a lot of courses that might be decent on pearland's side, but they're surrounded by houses/subdivisions, e.g. sienna ...
i lived in houston for 20 years before moving back last year ... you're 40 miles from the northwest/north side ... blackhorse is on the nwest side and will have very good greens, but the layout for both courses is a bit mundane ... tradition at cypresswood will also have very good greens and is a bit more entertaining than blackhorse, imo ... both are $80-$100 ... you could go to moody gardens in galveston for a linksy feel ...
your absolute best bet is the wilderness at lake jackson ... it's 45 miles from pearland, away from houston, and is not near any subdivision or traffic ... always in immaculate shape ... it's not hard to get to, and you always see some wildlife - deer, turkeys, gators, etc ... greens are always smooth and fast ... layout is varied and much better than just about anything else in houston ... it's my favorite course within an hr radius ...

Fish Creek used to have the best greens in the state

Always enjoyed this one. Although I just noticed he said he's going to be in Pearland. I'm not sure I've ever played golf down south, so if distance is an issue, many of these suggestions aren't valid.

Bandit will shoot par or better at most of the places listed.
