The Cal Golden Bears rugby team won 26 national titles between 1980-2011

Pretty damn stout.

I think their Ski team is pretty good, too. FYI ULL's only naty are in skiing as well 6 times. so that's 32/36 to UL schools. Is it because its a sport you can compete in drunk?

It wouldn't surprise me if our team did. They go fricking hard.

and there were 20 other really good basketball programs in D 1 mens.

there are rarely more than 2 other teams that are elite in a given year in women's ball. There are NO women's college teams that could even compete with a great boys high school championship team. ZERO.
absolutely none.

anecdotal evidence
I was a good but not great basketball player.
I had my moments.
I had a girl friend who was all state in high school.
She could beat me in horse.
I won every time we played one on one.
She was powerless to stop me.
I could get steals and some blocked shots.
She was one inch shorter than me.
The local all district guard at our high school was 2 inches shorter than me, and he could beat me in long grueling one on one games in my driveway that were very competitive. He got more rebounds. I could shoot over him.
