re: Outside the Top 4, is this draft weak?

I guess it all depends on how well the attacking part of his game translates. The team certainly could use a go to scorer. But I just have problems seeing Hield as contributing anything more than scoring. If he didn't have the fire/leadership factor I'd be very much against drafting him. Being just a scorer isn't that unique of a skill set in the NBA.

If your first sentence worries you with Hield, it should worry you 10x more with Valentine as that's his biggest knock coming into this draft. He has trouble finishing and creating separation. I just don't see that explosiveness and handles that Hield seems to possess. I like the synergy possibilities with Holiday as well, who seems to play really well with guards who are quick and make quick decisions. Valentine's passing intrigues me, and he is a great shooter. I just love the way Hield is able to create that shot on his own without needing to run off screens. By no means would I be disappointed with Valentine, and he's honestly the prospect I would target if Hield were to go before we pick. I'm just not trading Hield for Valentine + project if I'm the Pels right now. I would give up Murray in a heartbeat for Valentine + project. The other problem with Valentine is there is no way to project where he will go in the draft. He's a very intriguing player.

There's a reason Hield is a consensus top 8 pick as an undersized 2 while Valentine is a mid teens projection at 6'6''.
There's an inch difference between the two,and Hield is the same size and wingspan as James Harden. He isn't undersized.

I've meet James Harden and he's a legit 6'6.

Harden is ~ an inch taller and 2 inches greater wingspan.

You think that inch makes him undersized?
I'm tired of hearing he's undersized. You think just b/c someone is 6'4" they can't play against someone 6'6"?
You're either a basketball player or you're not. I don't expect him to be able to go up against Kawhi and Lebron, but if he can't handle the SG's in this league, it won't be b/c he's 6'4.5". It's because he's simply not good enough.

I think that inch and 2 inches makes him not the same size and wingspan as Harden which you stated. I think Hield is slightly undersized, but not a big deal.

The average shooting guard has a 6'8.6 wingspan, guess what Hield's is? 6'8.5
He is literally the average size. Unless we want to nitpick a centimeter.

If Hield was two inches taller, we wouldn't even be discussing him at 6. I agree it's stupid to nitpick over an inch or two. The Warriors are a perfect example of not needing height to win. Give me basketball players. I'll consider it a great draft if Hield or Valentine end up on this roster. I just think you're gambling big if you trade back to the early teens hoping Valentine will be there.

trade back to the early teens
Trading back requires a lot of things to break right. 13 is too far back, 8 isn't far enough, we don't even know if we can hold onto 6. But sadly we have nothing better to talk about than poorly supported draft speculation.

Let's just win the 2nd pick and take whoever's left and leave it at that!
Can't be too greedy now.

Heild is not a combo guard it shows by his inability to handle the ball. He avgs more TOV than asst and he doesn't even look to pass. He has a high TOV rate due to his weak handles.
Heild is Dwayne Wade with a slightly less explosive game but a better outside shot.
He's gonna be fvcking awesome, and I'm gonna be ecstatic if we get him.

I love watching Heild play and can't wait for the game tonight, but part of me is legit somewhat rooting against him inside. I get nervous if he goes on a Kemba/Shabaz-esque run and leads them to the ship we might lose him.
As someone mentioned, pair Buddy's dead-eye game with David and (hopefully) a consistent penetrating presence in Holiday, and shite could get pretty absurd.

You did not just compare Heild to Wade. They are literally nothing a like. Wade was 6'3 with a 7'0 wingspan and one of the most athletic and explosive players in the game. He was one of the best in slashing and getting to the rim and drawing foul. Heild is none of those so stop posting. I can't wait till next season so I can say told you so for being the only fan base to dumbly over hype better Jodie Meeks.

you can't win the 2nd pick.
It's either win the 1st pick, or pick where you finish.

You realize you are the only one running around two boards(that I know of) declaring Hield with definitive statements right?
The only one setting themselves up to look foolish on this whole Hield thing is you.
You have gone all in and thats not a good place to be in something as un-guaranteed as the NBA draft. Especially as a lay person that doesn't have access to all the professional scouting reports, detailed analytics and eventually workout and interview footage. It is just so illogical to be running around from topic to topic trying to tear down one particular prospect and making these declarative statements that a perfectly good prospect is guaranteed to not ever be more then X or Y.

Would you compare him to Asik with an offensive game? I'd take that.
