Garage door opener problems

Just the other day our garage door started acting up. Now you have to hold the button down until the door is all the way shut or it will stop and go back up.
Anyone ever had this happen to theirs? Is there a reset button?

I'm going through it now, I'm all ears on this one. I'll probably just replace the damn thing though.

I had that problem awhile back..one of the sensors had a loose wire. Also make sure the sensors are aligned properly...you might have bumped one by accident while walking by.

First thing to do is check the sensors. That's the easiest thing, and most common problem.

Same thing happened to mine. Had a cob web/dust bunny draped over one of the sensors. Cleaned up the sensor with a damp paper towel and it went back to working properly.

Everyone is saying sensors, but it may not be that at all. If the door is dropping all the way to the floor and then going back up, it probably isn't a sensor problem. The chain is running past the hard stop, the door believes it has hit something and then retreats back up. The stop may simply need to be adjusted.

Has anyone mentioned the sensors yet?
