Can you guys poke holes in this for me? I'm okay with paying extra to get all from Newegg. Just want to make sure the parts are okay.

Get bigger monitors.
As for the components, I've been out of the game for a while, so I can't bring any valuable opinions to the table.

Dont forget a copy of Windows

Monitors are a bit small for my taste, but to each his own.
I would recommend you get the R9-390 instead of the GTX 970, as Coyote also suggested in a previous thread. However, even better would be to wait until May/June for the next crop of graphics cards, if you can...
That case is really for super-low budget builds. Right off the bat, you have to remove a drive bay in order to fit any normal size graphics card. Airflow is bare minimum basic in that case as well. It's a fine case, just kind of stands out among the rest of the components. Fractal R4 or R5 is my default selection when I do $1,000 part lists for people.
PSU is fine, but since you selected a motherboard with extra bells and whistles that supports SLI, you could start with a PSU that's already adequate for two GPUs (unless you're certain you'd never want to do SLI/crossfire).
Everything else is good, and even if you went with the build as is, there's nothing egregious.

I don't understand the desire for dual monitors. Why not just get one nice one?
I've never had dual monitors so maybe that's why I don't get it.
Question. I'm waiting for the new gpus this summer and I know I'm not going to do crossfire. I got a 550 watt psu. Can I save money or is there a high quality motherboard that has only one slot for gpu? I am going to OC a i5 6600k

PC gaming is more than just wasting time playing video games on the best display. The second monitor allows you to stay in conversations outside of the game launcher's UI, consume media, be somewhat productive and just work on other things.

I never understood it until I had two at work.

I have 3 at work. 2 for work, 1 for play.

I also prefer the 2nd monitor in portrait mode.

That's what got me hooked as well. Now that I work from home, I have two 27" monitors. Only reason I don't have three is lack of desk space.

It depends on your cooling. If you're just getting a hyper 212 evo like the OP, pretty much any Z170 board will do. There's no need to look for high-quality VRMs and 8, 12, 16+ power phases because you won't be tweaking voltages to achieve mega overclocks.

When I had surround it was difficult to find something to pop up on the 3rd monitor if they are horizontal in landscape. Your eyes only really want to pull away from the gaming screen to look at one source. It felt forced to look to the right of the gaming monitor then left of the gaming monitor. Windows 7 didn't do a great job and you couldn't easily tell Windows which display to put the game on if you wanted to stay in SLi/CFx. Now it would have been better with a monitor over the top of my gaming display and one to the left/right but didn't try at the time. Today I just put a movie via Chromecast on the TV in my computer room if wanting to watch a movie on a bigger screen than my secondary monitor which stays in portrait.

I think the R9 390 may be a better card but NVIDIA's drivers comparability >>>> AMD. (My opinion)

This used to be the case, but not anymore. I have more trouble with nVidia drivers since Little Maxwell launch over AMD drivers.

Hasn't been the case for a while.
