Great recruiter who could come back to the SEC and do the following:
1) Vengeance on Florida - Urban Legend Meyer
2) Slap Saban @ BAMA - with Les' players!!
3) Line up some Little 10 future regular season games with the likes of Michigan (Les) and Illini (who knows), and kick their arses, too!!
Around the horn "kick-arse".

I wouldn't mind Zook. He's done a great job no matter he's at.

he also has NFL ties, something this current LSU admin has been high on
don't rule out the zooker, or gary gibbs IMO

So he turned Illinois around, so what? It's the Big 10. He can recruit but he couldn't win at Florida. I don't want him.

If he would come to LSU and find another Juice Williams type player and run the spread offense, I think it'd be a good hire.

no matter how good of a coach you are, i think there should be some sort of unwritten rule that states you cannot hire any previous coach who was fired by a fellow sec school

Zook took a young FL team back in 2003 and whipped LSU on its own field...only loss of the NC season.....and, it really wasn't even close ...19-7.
the guy can recruit and coach....witness OSU arse-whipping in their stadium 2 weeks ago.....
Given Illini's terrible record forever, I'd say he's done something right in his career.

I think it's funny seeing as how they've not really worked out so far.
TT - Almost but no "cigar" on the big one.
SS - BWAHAHAH. USC is lucky to have a winning season.
NS - 6-6, with a loss to Croom AND ULM!!! No wins in November.
It doesn't do anyone any good to hire a former SEC coach, or it hasn't so far anyway.

I think Zook could do well at LSU. He knows what the heat is like in the SEC and recruits well. If he could keep that iron gate around Louisiana closed and keep the athletes coming, he'd do well. He's shown that he isn't against taking risk to get the job done. I don't think he did a BAD job at FL, they were just used to a level that couldn't be achieved or maintained.

Agree with your assessment on "keeping the level that couldn't be maintained"......
that goes for a lot of programs, not just in the SEC.....I'd take a solid, proven young coach with energy and a good track record for recruiting....
Zook would probably do well....also, now has some recruiting inroads at other states outside FL with his experience in Illinois.

Ron Zook would keep LSU fraternities in line, too.

My frat got kicked off campus a few years ago...so, maybe he could take care of those rowdy DKE's.....
still have fond memories of Homecoming, 1971 when we played BAMA...all the visiting parents walking by Frat Row got a close-up of DKE's 50 ft. banner across their 2nd story balcony.....
pic of a huge tampon with lots of crimson......caption was "Stop the Flow".....
Zook might be able to straighten those boys out a bit, but probably futile.
