Best comparison in NBA for Ben is the 8th or 9th guy on the bench...Mickey will have more of an impact.

You posters who are implying Simmons can't shoot are so clueless. Simmons has a nice shot and can fill it up.

Have you actually watched Simmons play??? He has zero game outside of five feet. Zero.

Josh Smith

Josh Smith is an elite shot blocker who plays defense. Ben doesn't know what a block shot or defense is.

I think that may have stunted his growth in the long run

Stunted what growth, Anthony Davis seemed to have no offensive game at Kentucky and now he looks to be extremely skilled offensively. Towns is on a different level once he left Kentucky. Cal wasnt going to develop shite in his 1 season there.

And Ben is likely to be a much more skilled, efficient and effective offensive player than Smith ever was.

really they both have the same problem in that they need to develop as shooters. I think Mickey brings more to the table at this point, in that he has a game even without being a good shooter. He does other things better like, play defense, rebound , block shots, play tough, etc. Both have a lot of upside. Should they make it in the NBA their careers will be interesting to watch to say the least. Pulling for both of them to make it in the NBA. Hopefully Simmons can make the transition to the NBA though he may have to do some time in the development league as did Mickey.

I mean anything is possible and all, but I would say it is close to a lock that Ben Simmons doesn't spend a minute in the D-League.

Mediocre Power Forward with similar college career...

quote:

At Minnesota, Humphries was named 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and named to the All-Big Ten First Team by the media and coaches. He was named Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press and by Rivals.com. He was the first freshman to lead the Big Ten in scoring and rebounding in the same season. He scored in double figures in all 29 games, with 16 point/rebound double-doubles on the season for Minnesota. He averaged 21.7 points and 10.1 rebounds (both tops in the Big Ten), while shooting .444 percent from the field and .742 from the line. On February 18, 2004 he set a school record with 36 points in a game against Indiana. He also set a school record for most points by a freshman for a season with 629 and was the first Big Ten freshman to be named conference Player of the Week in two of the first three weeks of the season. Humphries only played one season for Minnesota before declaring for the NBA Draft.

Although Humphries was personally successful at Minnesota, the team struggled. The Gophers finished 12–18, with a 3–13 record in the Big Ten during Humphries' lone season, tying Penn State for the worst record in the conference.[7] Critics accused Humphries of playing selfishly, preferring to inflate his statistics and NBA draft stock rather than help the team win games.[8] The team had a .500 record before his arrival and finished with a 10–6 conference record in the season after he left.

I've seen quite a few comparisons of Simmons to Humphries lately and when you look close, it seems about right. At any rate, it makes a lot more sense than the ridiculous comparisons to LeBron James or any other of the NBA all time greats.

Ben Simmons had more assists in 33 college games as Kris Humpries has had the last 3 NBA seasons (174games).

When is the last time you saw Humrphries handle the ball, or run the point? what planet are you posting from mate?
