Adrian Wojnarowski has more sources than almost anyone that covers the NBA, and he routinely breaks NBA news before anyone else. It has some legitimacy to it. The story is full of opinions of people within the league. It doesn't mean they're all right, and it doesn't mean their opinions are accurate or truthful. They're merely opinions they've given Wojnarowski. Some of you people need a good education on how the media works. This story is like anything else -- consider the possible agendas from the sources and/or the writer (if there is any -- sometimes, there is and sometimes, there isn't) and decide for yourself. I think there's a some truth there but I don't necessarily agree with all of it. I also don't think the entire thing is false or a "splash report." The real truth is somewhere in the middle.

There (and there's) correct usage
It's a Rant hat-trick

say he needs things to revolve around him on and off the court
I agree with everything except this part. As someone that knows him and has had over 50 chances to interact this off the court stuff is absolutely not true.
Also it is quite a hypocrisy to say he shys away at times from taking the big shot or jumpers much less, and then say he needs things to revolve around him.
This was a team effort that contributed to this teams season. While there factors that hurt it immensely that cannot be controlled: in injuries, players sitting out, etc. I question the team CJJ built from the start and the players he played. That is the fundamental issue with having so many players that have "versatility", while it is usually not a bad thing, we had guys that were okay at multiple things but not great at any one, coupled with obvious consistency issues from the entire team, it was a poor year.

He played on a team that was terribly coached and that did nothing in terms of offensive scheme to help him assert himself. And he still managed to score boatloads of points...

Article is a crock of unfounded, speculative shite.

1. I don't care if he is successful in the NBA or not. I am a college basketball fan. I can always be a Steph Curry fan if I want to pull for a great pro player.
2. How anyone could have watched Simmons and not see the flaws in his game is beyond me. He passed up five to ten foot shots time and again. Being unselfish is great but not when you are 6'10" and refuse a five foot shot to pass it to 6' Josh Gray underneath the basket who naturally gets his shot smashed back in his face.
3. His attitude went down the drain when we went into our losing streak. Stupid revenge fouls and seeming not to give a damn.
4. It's not that his defense was bad it was that he gave no effort. When I see a 6' 10" player just not contend a layup but actually move out of the way it sickened me. Not getting back and losing his man are just not something that should ever happen if you are trying.
5. It wasn't great passes that I will remember from him but the 6 and 8 turnover games down the stretch when we needed every break we could get.
6. I do agree that some of the feelings I have are not his fault. He was crammed down our throat by LSU and every talking head at every game. No one could have met his expectations. But then it was always everybody's fault at LSU that we didn't have success from the fans to the coach but never Simmons. I don't get LSU fans that don't point out his flaws and seem to accept the massive condemnation that our program has received. To say that all of it was on the other players and coach and no responsibility for Simmons is just wrong.

Spot on sir. He was playing cautious most of the time.Getting to the NBA without injury and working on his Passing which was a little over the top. Didn't want to take jumpers that would of hurt his shooting %

quote:The best part is that if he turns out to be an elite nba player, these same people who bash him will love him and go after anyone who talks negatively of him.
Ben is going to be exceptional in the NBA and I love everyone coming to bash on him.
I'm hoping it happens.

I certainly wish Ben the best and he's about to make crazy money, which we would all jump at. Going forward I think his biggest obstacle will be hitting a consistent jumper from 12' to 16'. If he get that part of his game to come around he'll be a stud at the next level. I'm proud he was a TIGER.
