As far as I know, the city has never requested bids to sell the statues. If this was about matching the current views of the city, simply letting someone pay you for them and moving the figures elsewhere should be sufficient, right? Especially since our entire state is broke af. But that's not what they are trying to do. They are trying to erase history. Erasing our State's history from the State's most renowned City is a state matter, not a "purely local one."

We are a republic... Not a democracy.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on lunch. Liberty is a well armed sheep monitoring the results.

The plan has always been to move them to a museum and not sell them.

exactly...i think with the placards being placed by the monuments,at least maybe a few will stop and educate themselves (that includes mitch) about why we have statues honoring these veterans.it is pure ignorance to tear them down just to appease the uneducated minority. i don't live in nola, but i am a lifelong la resident who is quite frankly embarrassed by the whole ordeal.....and maybe this nice lady from franklinton feels the same way.

Didn't a majority of citizens elect him? Didn't a majority of citizens elect the council members who voted for this?

I didn't see monument removal on his on platform when ran.

They are monuments located in New Orleans and maintained by the City of New Orleans, that the New Orleans City Council has voted to remove at the behest of the Mayor of New Orleans, who were all elected by the people of New Orleans and who's authority on the matter has been already been confirmed by a United States federal judge based in New Orleans.

I don't think it can get more "purely local" than that

So just because the people of new orleans (not all, but some) are too stupid or lazy to stand up to these "local" politicians does the mean the people who visit new orleans, or tourists from out of state should be deprived of seeing these monuments and historical references? You are a moron.
