I wonder how well it would go over if a NOLA State Senator introduced a bill to meddle with a strictly Northshore matter?

Probably go over pretty good if the Northshore decided to do something completely retarded.

So wait. We now need a state commission, which will be funded by all taxpayers, to support local monuments?

Yea, that's not dumb at all.

I'll take it over some pompous asswipe mayor trying to spend millions to take them down when there are literally a million better things to do with the time and money.

If you're so concerned about what's actually dumb her, focus on the cause. This shouldn't have to happen.

Kinda hard for the people to figure it out when the mayor doesn't give a frick what the people want.

So the rest of the state has to step in? If the Mayor of bum frick Louisiana wanted to tear down the town catfish statue, would you give a frick?

If it mattered to me, I'd care. But I'm not in a position to do anything about stuff like that. This woman is, so more power to her for being an elected official caring about what any group of citizens think. It's more than we can say for the mayor.

Its not a fricking catfish statue. They are trying to erase history and monuments that have been there for decades. Why in the frick is it a "SMART" move to tear these down....its not.....and yes it may not be the best use of funds, but Id rather see these monuments protected rather than destroyed. Asshat.

So more government intervention. Let your friends know that you've abandoned conservative principles.

Only because the mayor (government) intervened first. I have no problem with corrective action. If it costs us money, I blame the mayor.

Didn't a majority of citizens elect him? Didn't a majority of citizens elect the council members who voted for this?

I'm all for keeping the monuments, but seeing people who don't live in Orleans get their jimmies rustled makes me want to switch sides...

Oh well then he can just do whatever he wants then, right? Carte blanche. What could go wrong?

And politicians never ever go against the will of their constituents. That never happens ever.

And instead of the local citizens forcing a change, the whole state has to? Are you really serious?

This better be a volunteer commission because we are broke af

In theory a commission with the goal of "not doing shite" to something that already exists should be inexpensive.

Of course, in reality it'll be absurd.

Nope. I want them to stay. I pray the people of NOLA come to their senses. The rest of the state should shut up.

Does it seem to you that the mayor gives a shite what citizens think?

I'd ask you the same question. The only reason we are here is because of a mayor doing his best to do something that as far as I can tell a majority doesn't want to happen. The blame lies with him alone.

If the majority doesn't want it to happen, why are they asking a rep from Franklinton to do their bidding instead of pressuring their own elected officials?

Again, why the frick should my North LA tax dollars be used to support purely local issues?
