Find a Portillo's and try an Italian beef sandwich, wet with peppers.

The original deep dish, or Chicago style pizza is Pizza Uno.

You should try it at least once.

FWIW, I like Detroit derivation of Chicago pizza. No edges on crust, cheese caramelizes on the edges.

Also, Carsons. It served USDA Prime for very reasonable prices. That's not really their deal though, and I find the steaks average for a Midwest steak. It's supposedly their ribs, which have been served on Air Force One numerous times, etc, etc.

It's like anywhere else. It's largely personal preference. Peter Millers in Evanston is supposed to be great. It is like Ruth Chris. Overpriced and marginal. My opinion.

So if you were going to eat in Chicago, why not get the original deep dish? You can get a steak anywhere. Just as if I was coming back to NOLA, what would the point of a Midwest guy going to a steakhouse be when there are regional and specific dishes in NOLA that I don't have access to up here?

Go to eat and drink. Don't mess with the overpriced places with the big white plate and a two bite portion
