I've been looking into getting a handgun for sometime now. Think I've decided on a Glock 19, now I just want to make sure I pay a fair price for it. Any wise NWLA OBers have advice on where to go in the Shreveport/Bossier area for good service and prices?

Also, anybody have experience purchasing through Glock's Blue Label program? Am AF reserves, so that's an option as well.

Closest Glock LE dealer to you is in Columbia. As far as paying a fair price in Shreveport/Bossier? Unless you know someone you might be better off buying something online from Bud's or Impact and use a local FFL for the transfer is you are looking for anything considerably lower. Academy on Bert Kouns sometimes carries a fair deal but I can't think of anyone that has the volume to come off MSRP that much. I don't think the Bass Pro in Bossier has ever had anything I couldn't find cheaper.

If you do end up buying online or something and need to transfer, I would recommend Willis Arms out near Elm Grove, $10 transfers and a hell of a guy.

I'll definitely give them a try if I go that route.

I am under the impression that I can purchase the gun directly from Glock through the Blue Label program and have them ship to a dealer who can then transfer to me. If that is in fact the case then I'll give them a shout.

I'll second Willis. I ran an ar lower through him last year and it was really easy. I've also taken a couple of guns there to be worked on and he does good work.

I went to academy sports in bossier a few months back and bought 2 new pistols. One was a glock. Took me about 20 minutes in and out. doesnt get much easier than that.

La sportsman for used. I'd check any local price on a new gun vs Buds gunship online. With the sales tax savings you can probably get it cheaper on line. I've used Willis as we'll but his fee is $20 for one, $30 for >1.

Ah he must have gone up over the past few years. He did my Tikka transfer for $10 but that was in 2011.

Yeah, was down ther in Oct, been $20 since I've first dealt with him a few years back. Still cheaper than Ron's who charged 30 but it's been 3-4 years since I've dealt with those grouchy mofos.

I think barneys in the heart of bossier shopping center participates in the blue program, not for sure if its just LEO though. Cash n a flash on north market is a blue dealer. I'll also second Patricks Guns, I personally haven't had a chance to deal with him yet but i have a few trustworthy friends that are very pleased with him.

Go out to Princeton and have Jerry Miculek give you some lessons on a revolver. Seriously though they have a good little store out there too

You might call DC Pawn (318-371-9606) just down I20 in Minden. Pleasant guy who gave good service. He's handled some transfers for me in the past, but not since we have a dealer in Springhill. Back then he was the Glock dealer for the LEO's.

Everybody has their preferred place to do business and for valid reasons. Nearly every firearm I have purchased in the last 10 years has been from Michaels Mens Store in Dowtown Homer.

I realize its about 45 minute drive from bossier - but I can just about guarantee that they will have the best price on any new gun, especially if they have it in stock.

Just for example - I had been looking at a S&W 642 Airweight .38 spl. Most places in shreveport / bossier (guns n ammo, dav tac, bass pro) ranged anywhere from 450-480. I purchased this gun from Michaels about a month ago for $405 plus tax.

At least give them a call in the telephone and tell them what you are looking for.
