I never thought we had a chance at him anyway. Looks like Spurrier is what we may end up with.

It would suck to "end up with" a multiple time SEC Champion and one time national champion head coach, huh?

i know a few of them who would like TT to come home...he ain't signed yet, so who knows? that buyout would be a b!tch though.

Auburn University and Tommy Tuberville agreed in principle Tuesday to extending his contract to seven years, said a source familiar with negotiations between the school and the football coach.
No comment yet from his ears. They are in Burma this week being used to sail a couple of catamarans.

$6 mil. buyout for Tubby
$2.4 mil. for Nutt to go coach at Ole Piss
What would Ark. have to pay Tubby after shelling out almost $9 million of non-salary dollars on the front in?

Posted on 11/27/07 at 9:12 pm to BilJ
i like the fact that tuburville and saban get to fight over 1 state.

I hate tubby, He is my most hated coach in the whole conference and if he came here it would be very hard to root for my alma mater. I still would of course but it would be hell.

good question, and i haven't the foggiest. read somewhere where Sexton got Nutt closer to 3.65 mil. when he walked/fired. + he get's to coach not only in the same conf., but the same division. maybe some of the going away money is reduced now that he is employed again, but why the UA didn't stipulate a non-compete clause is
questionable, imo.

Yes, I've heard this all day from freinds at work. I think this got full attention on the call in shows too.
John White went stupid on that part of the agreement, IMO.
If he gets $3.65 to leave, you would expect that this amount would be greatly reduced if he took another job in conference.
He gets the extra check from Arkansas and a chance to kick their arse in Fayetteville next season while that money is still fresh in his pocket. Plus if any of his current recruits follow him then it will be that much more worse.

By the way, when two parties "agree in principle," that means they agree to perhaps agree. There is still a great deal of "wiggle room."
Just an FYI. The buyout issue is a different matter, but the "agreement in principle" does not hold as much weight as a fully executed contract.

Spurrier would not recruit worth a sh*t, IMO. Would come here, try to grab a NC with our full cupboard and retire, leaving us worse for wear.
I wish we could get somebody that would stick around for a while, get invested without his eye on some other school.
I also hope Crowton is here next year even if Les leaves (which I honestly hope he doesn't but think he likely will). These guys haven't even had a year in Crowton's system and we're lighting up the scoreboard.
Years 2 and 3? Sha-zam!
