and our administration will be trying to search for an "up and comer." Buckle your seatbelts. IMO

I have no doubt that Sexton is putting out feelers on behalf of Spurrier, but it may just be the result of him wanting more money from South Carolina, and, in the end, he stays.

I still think that if we want Tubberville, we figure out a way to get him...

That's what they've done the past two hires. We all said WTF who is he when we hired Nick Saban but he turned out to be championship material the other was 28-21 at OK State. He hasn't turned out to be Championship material

I don't think Spurrier is serious. Big TAF person trying to convince me about all the "up and comers" that have been successful at many programs across the country.

Saban came out of nowhere but was highly regarded. Just because we didn't know the name that well at the time doesn't mean he wasn't well known in coaching circles. I have supported Miles but..............

I'm still not sure that Miles gets the Michigan job, but if he does I would like to get Tubby. However, I think the buy-out may be to much of a hurdle. If in fact, the reported 6 mil figure is acurate.

We are in for one hell of a time if we don't get a big name and TT does go to Arky. We will be surrounded by big name coaches recruiting our territory and questioning the pedigree of our new coach. This is not the same SEC as it was when Saban was hired. The wrong move could put us back a decade.

I agree that he wants out. If y'all will remember the higher ups at USC screwed him last year when he offered two kids scholarships and then the administration denied them access to the University based on their academic performance after he had given them his word that they could come to USC. That was egg on his face and he made a public statement about it. It pissed him off really bad and I think he has wanted to leave ever since.

Our recruiting is shot to hell if we name a little up and comer. We need a big name to get the recruits. Well mainly because, NUTT, SABAN, TT, and whoever AUB/ARKy hires will dominate our recruiting. Welcome back 5-7 records.

just like when we hired little known coach from up north, Nick Saban?

recruiting is about work ethic and building relationships...not about a big name coach.

I don't think there is anyway Skip pays the $6 million buyout.
Unless he can raise ticket prices and make $9 million

"Hopefully, I truly believe this is the last year this is going to happen, because I can't operate like that," Spurrier said. "I can't operate misleading young men."

Spurrier signed a contract extension, which included a raise of nearly a half-million dollars, that ties him to South Carolina through 2012. However, he said if things didn't change on admissions "then I have to go somewhere else, because I can't tell the young man that he's coming to school here," then not have him admitted.
