I usually have two punching rigs ready to go. Everything will be very similar between the two except line. One will have braid (40-65 lb. test), the other fluorocarbon (20-30 lb. test).
For some reason, I find myself in situations where I lose confidence with the braid.
Rods: I'm in love with Falcon so a Falcon Jason Christie flippin stick and Falcon Lowrider flippin stick.
Reels: Usually a high gear ratio. I personally use pfluegers.
Bait: Lake fork craw tube (until I run out of the 500 I bought several years ago, they are discontinued). And Big Bite craw tube. I have so much confidence in these craw tubes I look for any reason to throw them.
Weight: Strike King tungsten. I tried several other brands but I've had the least issues with the Strike Kings. I also try to use the lightest weight that still punches the mat.
Hooks: EWG superline 4/0 or 5/0. Perfect shape for the tubes.
For me, punching is all about confidence. A rod/reel that you feel you can place a bait in a solo cup at 30 ft. A bait that moves through the mat the way you like. Etc.
ETA - Don't forget the stoppers. Way better than T-stops imo.

The weight I use depends on the thickness of whatever I'm fishing, but I try to go as light as possible. Usually the smallest is 1/2 or 3/4 oz all the way up the 2 oz.
Favorite bait is a Missile Baits D-Bomb or Baby D-Bomb
ETA: I always peg my weight with some Eagle Claw rubber bobber stoppers, and usually only use 65 or 50 pound braid.

No doubt. I fish the Calcasieu River a lot and those bass love them!

Big tubes work great. Weights from 1/2 to 1 oz. Braided line 50-65 lb. I've caught lots of bass just stacked under one small mat. Don't hesitate to fish in the same hole you've just pulled one out of, esp in the winter!

Thanks man! What software did you use to make your video?
I use gopro studio. It doesn't have a lot the features some programs have but it is what I learned to use.

what do these do for you ?

Keeps the weight from sliding up your line when you make a pitch. Pretty much a necessity for punching or flipping bushes.

I like the bobber stoppers from 6th Sense. Perfect size and cheap too.

I use Eagle Claw bobber stoppers. Only ones I can find in stores around here. They're all basically the same thing

Nice meeting you. I din't stay much longer as you could see my Son lost interest. I ran to the back and caught 2 on a spinner bait where the muddy water was coming out of the woods. We were chasing sac a lait earlier but my spots were jacked up so wanted to try that area before we left
