If Miles Doesn't Get the Michigan Job, Will He . . .

Be on the Hot Seat here at LSU next year? Maybe not officially, but in the eyes of many fans?
I can just see the criticism beginning to heap up next year. The loss to Arkansas was devastating and it will impact the program for a long time if Miles stays. All of the goodwill that had been built up really evaporated, not because people don't like Miles, but because so much was on the line and for two straight years, we blew it. Someone will be held accountable for that and in the fans eyes, it will become the coaches more and more.
Most are predicting 3 losses next year. Even if we had the best coach in America, we would lose 3 next year, most likely because of graduations and the schedule. My point is that if Miles doesn't get the Michigan job, life here is not going to be too rosy. It is not necessarily fair to him, either, because I think that he has done a great job. But, perception becomes reality and the reality is, that loss to Arkansas was a greater blow to our program than anyone could have imagined perception wise.
Now, if we win the SEC and the Sugar Bowl, some of that good will might return. Here's to hoping that happens decisively because it would prove that Les can bring a team back from adversity and bounce back.

he has always been on the hot seat with the fans since he stepped foot on campus.

Oh he will be allright and the fans will recover. However he will for whatever reason never get a fair shake by a segement of the fan base. I have come to accept that.

Winning, particularly big games will cure everything. A single 8-4 or 7-5 season will not doom Miles at LSU. As long as he consistently wins 9 or 10 games (which is not guaranteed, by any stretch), his future is assured. In fact, he will only slightly be on the hot seat if he were to go, say 7-5 then 8-4. There would be lots of talk, speculation, but no firing. If he came back after those two seasons with a 10-3, or another 11-2, then all would be forgiven.
All academic as Miles will be coaching the Michigan Wolverines next year, and will only coach one or two more games at LSU.

will he be in the hot seat next year? no! hes the most successful lsu coach over a three year period, no other coach has brought in more 4 and 5 star players. in his 1st 3 years hes put lsu in the seccg twice and maybe another bcs game. hes is every thing lsu wants in a coach

No other LSU coach was handed as much talent as he was either.

You sure about that?

LSU wants a coach that wins championships. Miles has yet to win one. He needs the game on Saturday.

That's because there are still enough of us out there who remember the Curley Hallman years when we would have killed for a 7-5 mark.

winning championships take time....yes les miles has more 4 and 5 star players than any other coach over his three year period. it doesnt matter how much talent your handed, its all about how you perpare them mentally and physically before a game.

lsu wants natl championships but they want success over a long period more.

No, dropoff will be expected due to tough road schedule in even years. Non conf schedule is a joke so that's 4 right there plus at least 2 somewhere along the way. 8 wins is needed to not be on hot seat the following year

he's been here 3 years with absolutely loaded teams

and by all accounts this is exactly why miles is under fire from the LSU fanbase

LSU could easily be 7-5 or 8-4 next year.

it takes more than 3 years to win a natl. title, not evey coach can do what few coaches have done and do it in less years. why is everyone bitching like spoiled little brats he has piled up a record of success that other coaches would kill for...lsu will win another natl. title be fricking patient "rome wasn't built in a year" if miles stays he will eventually be the most successful coach ever in lsu football history. in the 90's everyone would kill just to win the sec west. b/c lsu won the natl. title in 03 everyone thinks we should win it every year. yeah lsu was talented as all fu ck this season but look at the injuries, all the distractions about coaching changes...shite we play in the toughest conf. last year lsu had one of the hardest raod schedules ever. just b/c your the most talented it doesn't mean you'll win a natl. title flordia is the best example of that. they are way more talented than last year. the same goes for USC 2 years ago. everyone needs to be fu cking greatful lsu is as good as they are....miles is to thank for that. not the coaches that came before him.

Fans are stupid. Les has done a great job. He has brought in great coaches and talent and deserves everyone's respect. We win one championship in 50 years and everyone starts thinking we should do this every year. The whiners sound like a bunch of juvinile idiots.

He is on the hotseat now. I think the majority of the fanbase wants him to do well. I have tried my hardest to give him a chance, but if he manages to lose Sat. I don't see how anyone can make any excuses for him.

no matter if he loses th rest of the games this season he is still hands down the best coach lsu has ever had

the players are prepared if they weren't this wouldn't of been the 3 most successful years lsu has ever had. miles success at lsu says it all natl. title or not
