Nutt just kicked our arse out of a possible NC. If he is a horrible coach we must have worse on our sidelines.

Absolutely correct.
Furthermore if you go back to when Miles was hired and Saban wanted Nutt to replace him, Nutt by far had the more impressive resume!

But he will be a step in the right direction. You can't go from the cellar to getting a big name coach (that's rare). He will get them back to winning some which will move them in the right direction and in a better place years down the road.
