Why do we still have Ryan Anderson on our Roster?

I understand he is a nice asset if we were making a playoff push to have around, but he's moving on. He won't be with us next year. We should have moved him and got him to a contender and got some pieces in return...terrible job.

I'm hoping it's because Demps wanted to give the next GM a clean slate.

please, tell us about all these offers
Dell, should have moved him... yes. But its obvious the contending teams who made moves wanted guys they can control after this season (DMo, Tobias, Markieff)
Nobody was moving assets for a 1/2 rental stretch 4 who is a liability on D

Reports actually indicated that we were asking an "exorbitant" amount in return. Believe what you want, but I firmly believe if we truly wanted to move him it could have been done for a reasonable haul (late first + contract filler to make salaries match).

Maybe true, maybe not. In any event it's in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

No evidence of that. There was talk of offers of a second round pick.

thats what the Raptors turned down

League sources made it clear the Raptors kicked all the right tires. They inquired about deep shooting New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson and the Brooklyn Nets’ Thaddeus Young, but dropped out when the asking price would have included the likes of Luis Scola, James Johnson and Pat Patterson to make salaries match and a first-round pick in addition.
In Anderson’s case it was deemed too high a price for a defensively challenged rental – he’s a pending free agent

ding ding ding!!
The pels had teams interested, but we were asking way too much. Take what you can get and run!
Wiz, Raptors, MIL, Cavs, DET....all teams that showed high interest in RYNO

I think this is a what we need to harp on. We had multiple teams showing interest and we ended up with nothing. To me this means one of three things (all of which are not good).
1. We were asking for way too much and not willing to budge from initial requests.
2. We are ok with letting Ryno walk this offseason for nothing
3. We plan on overpaying him ourselves this offseason

Yeah none of these are good options. What happened yesterday was indefensible IMO. I'm not convinced that getting another 2nd and a player would've necessarily been a bad thing just to get him off the roster for the rest of the year.
The worst is hearing that people are excited that we'll now be able to spend 18 million or so to keep him.

Didn't you wear a Lebron jersey to the Heat game in the SKC a few years ago? Shouldn't you be a Cavs fan right now?

Another thing to consider. No Ryno on this team for the rest of the season means more ping pong balls come draft lottery. Keeping him on the team lets him continue to audition for other teams this off-season which I believe someone on this board has already stated. We simply have to be thinking about the future of this team and be trying to acquire as many assets as possible moving forward. That did not happen and the fans have every right to be be shaking their heads and wondering if we can ever trust the FO.
