Anyone here ever known of someone having their tonsils out later in life? Pros, cons?

The recovery is gonna be much longer and tougher than that of someone who had their tonsils out as a kid.


Be aware of that. Also...no straws, no straws, no straws. And excessive bleeding afterwards can be a big deal so don't dismiss it.

Had mine out real young, no problem. Heard later in life is harder.

Had mine out at 33. Sucked donkey balls. Dat liquid Lortab doh baw!

Had mine out at 34. Worst month of my life! I also had a uvolectomy at the same time, couldn't eat foods with any salt or seasoning for a solid month and nothing solid for 2-3 weeks.

Had mine out at 21. Liquid lortab and lidocaine kept me in check. I personally wouldn't advice dairy products because they'll make you swallow more. I stuck to apple juice, Gatorade and those fruit popsicle things, think the brand is Edy's or something. Oh and stay away from acidic liquids and juices. Don't force solids, everyone heals differently.

My dad has his taken out in his twenties.
