Portable CD players fricking sucked. Skipping was the worst. I preferred a portable cassette player to the discman type machines.

You young whippersnappers with your fancy space-age gadgets...this was my youth.

Remember you could put tape over the corners of a cassette and record over it.

I have 2 Live Crew and NWA on some random cassette so my parents would not see what I was really listing to.

When I was a kid the radio stations (we had one rock AM station in Lafayette, one rock FM) would sign off at midnight.

After that you'd hope that the weather was right for you to pick up KAAY in Little Rock.

shite, I grew up on 8 tracks and vinyl. Had one of those old Panasonic Plunger 8 track players, used to have it on the tractor when cutting the pasture. Still laugh when I think about that awful pause then clunk clunk sound when it switched tracks in the middle of a song. Good times back then. Watching Dazed and Confused really brings me back, that was set during the time I was in 9th grade.
