Its an industry judged on the perception of an ideal body.

Fat is not ideal, nor should the public or anyone celebrate fatness.

Fatness is unhealthy, why celebrate being an overweight glutton? Oh, thats right ... because its PC.

Screw that. I dont want to pay for mouth breathers going to the hospital. And the more fat becomes "accepted" the more ill have to pay.

I just have no idea of what you're saying she should be doing with her fame in regards to trying to spread a positive message.

well the underlying issue isn't her, it's that her "fame" was pushed on society via social justice opinions

she's just a pawn in a larger game. she didn't create the cause and will be forgotten by the cause when another subset du jour emerges

my issue is with the cause/message. i have no problem with her as an individual/her thoughts and i don't care about her happiness

a positive message.

i have a problem describing her underlying message as "positive"

preaching that we should celebrate a negativity and a subsidy rewarding that negativity (Because it can't compete in a free market) is not "positive" to me. that whole mindset is just one i reject

in a way you could say i'm at war with it

This is where that line of thought leads

If you were born with a humongous wart covering half your face, you're not getting on the cover. Or even into modeling. So how motivational quote apply to them I'm not sure.

Right, but at that point you're just nitpicking.

I can say you can do whatever you put your mind to, I think we're all smart enough to know that isn't literal and we know that some dude born with no arms isn't going to play in the NBA, so we don't really need to qualify it.

It's just dissecting every little thing someone does or says to tear them down, I'd assume to make one feel better about themselves to mask certain insecurities about one's own self.

Yep, she's just an overweight glutton.

You have the same issue as SFP, acting like she's 600lbs.

She can very easily be very healthy at that size.

She's not fat, she has a bigger frame and is fine as heck.

She's friggin hot, way hotter than an anorexic ribs showing stick.

Weight is simply calories. If she ate 1000 calories a day she'd be rail thin inside a year. By no means does that mean she should be or would enjoy the process or the results but it is possible.

You are right.

She could starve herself, and get skinny.

I should have added a stipulation.

She could never be model skinny, and be as attractive as she currently is.

Well, that's at least a bit more fair. You didn't come off like that for 5 pages though.

that's a fair point.

Maybe it's a larger thought about the self-importance of models.

internet know-it-allness perfectly described

yeah well they're not me so i can't speak for them

it's the idea that your opinion means frick all to someone else because A.) you aren't in the same boat they are and B.) you don't even live by the same tenets you're preaching.

a. it doesn't matter. subjective experience and expectations in life only goes so far, especially as creatures of biology and evolution

b. i live by the tenets but i fail at doing it well enough. we all fail. by and large i've failed a lot less than most people. my biggest failures are in that one area (health) while that's just one slice of the full pie. there are plenty of people who are in top health who have completely failed in any intellectual or creative pursuits. we're just talking about one slice of life

but to get back to the point i quoted: censorship is never the answer. to anything.

quote:

on the internet though

no in real life, too. look at universities and areas inhabited by your progressives and you find censorship

and there are plenty of laws that exist towards this very purpose

it goes beyond just censorship. these psychos are pushing to change our criminal justice system to erode our constitutional rights. they've succeeded in areas of alleged sexual assault and they're moving onto other areas

that is our most hallowed backbone of our western system of law

well yeah if stupid people didn't use models as some sort of example of anything (other than how clothing on those with model bodies can look), then this wouldn't be an issue. she's taking her place as queen of a movement i loathe, so with her promotions of that movement i comment.

I don't mind plus sized models getting recognition. Those women certainly are not thin...but they aren't necessarily morbidly obese as well. The woman in the OP for all we know eats a healthy-ish diet and likely gets regular exercise. She isn't the one that will suffer health wise due to her weight.

What does annoy me is morbidly obese people thinking that seeing a plus size model means they have the perfect excuse to get fatter and fatter. Which will result in them getting type 2 diabetes or other health issues directly associated with obesity.

It's about time the major leagues start allowing someone like me short old and fat who can throw the ball maybe 55mph to start on opening day. It would be a positive message to all of those other out of shape 40 somethings who just want to show the world we can pitch too.

The issue is she sure seems like she's failed less than you in her career compared to yours, but you basically told us you know what she should have done with her life.

Yea, if that isn't "internet know it all" personified...

that's exactly the problem. she's promoting that to them, too, which has its own problems

sports are a meritocracy

modeling is about who can sell. Also a meritocracy. So this year's mag doesn't sell at all because of this, well we can put an end to her being a part of it.
