Well, the real problem is even if all of them did have apps, you would have to put in cable or satellite credentials (which you don't have) for them to work.

I have credentials I can use. Which I do. But it's the TNT, USA, TBS, channels that me and my wife watch mostly. I have access to those stations on Kodi, but the streams are really flaky. Really flaky. The best ones I could find were on cCloudTV and the later in the afternoon it got, the more flaky the streams were.

So looking at these options it seems like cbs is one of the last major network holdouts for streaming services?

They want to force you to pay for CBS all access or whatever.

Is the antenna reliable for cbs?

Depends on where you are and the antenna you get. I'm in Covington and get perfect signal on all the locals from an antenna in my attic.

I had to get a yagi style antenna though.

Are you able to run one antenna to all your tvs or do you need one per tv?

It depends on your situation. I have a separate cable run for my charter internet. My TV Coax cables terminate in my attic where I put my Antenna. I used this amplified splitter to connect the antenna to all of my TVs. Between my antenna and that amplifier, I am able to run 4 TVs off of my antenna with perfect signal quality. You may not need a power amplifier if you are in the city itself. In fact you can have too much power which can be detrimental. I would try first without amplifying and if the signal isn't good, throw in one.

I'm moving to Hoover soon and I think I convinced my wife to just get internet and Ps vue. I know I need the antenna for CBS though. I'll have to experiment I guess. I'll have to do some work for good wireless throughout the house too.

Does Vue give you a log in for watch ESPN?

Yes.

Think of Vue as a cable tv provider that just runs over a slightly different medium. It runs over IP on your own devices rather than in the cable company's (or DTV) closed system.

Granted in the NO area, we don't have locals yet so you will need an OTA antenna, which will give you the best picture quality anyway.

I didn't know this. I have view at home but need ESPN while at work in houston. Can I still use my Vue log in to access the espn app?

That's awesome. I was worried charter would cut my watch ESPN access off without their tv service

yes. You just can't use the actual Vue app outside of your network.

Alrighty, can someone let me know if this is good for what we need?

right now I have direct tv, its expensive as shite.

I need to get a digital antenna, from what I've read on here I can get one antenna and run it to multiple TVs with an amplifier and hook it up in the attic? I would assume all my coax is ran to outside where the directv hookups are... can I hook it up out there?

We have a firestick, i guess i will get a couple more for the other tvs.

for other tv, should I get Sling or Vue? I typically just watch espn, or secn, or golf channel. what about news channels like cnn or something?

as far as the antenna is concerned, is it best to do one, or get one for each tv? I have like 5 tvs currently and use them all often.

I installed an indoor antenna in my attic and it runs to 4 tvs in my house via coax. My main line from cox came into my attic and from there split off to each tv. I just disconnected the main line and ran it to my antenna. Works perfect. Wouldn't advise installing an indoor antenna outside.

Also, if you do any channel surfing at all, I would recommend the Fire TV over the firesticks. Much more responsive.

I got the middle tier Vue package and get all the ESPN channels, SECN, Golf channel, CNN, Fox New, etc. You can stream up to 5 devices at one time with Vue. I think Sling may be limited to 1 or 2.

i only use kodi for the video section...i try to change the settings to hide the music, pictures, and other options at the bottom but they on stay gone until i turn kodi off. when i return, the settings are back to where they previously were...how do i keep the settings to where it only shows the video options instead of going in each time and adjusting the settings. happens on both my phone and the firestick. thanks.

I am now watching wafb in HD from the livestream add-on on the official kodi repo. No other local stations on there. Will be getting an antenna soon to see about tower range.

When you get your home page to look the way you want it to look, you have to manually exit KODI by hitting the "power" button at the bottom left.

If you don't, it'll all re appear

So just get it the way you want and then hit the power button to close it on the bottom left of the main KODI screen
