What's the smallest boat you would want to fish Toledo? 16'? 18'?

Honestly if you launch in the cove you want to fish, you might be able to get away with an 18' boat. I personally would never try and cross Toledo with any urgency in a boat shorter than 20'.

I have fished it a few times successfully in a 16ft express, but like baller2323 said you just launch in the cove you want to fish and its all good.

A little wet running down the pipe in a small chop but nothing major.

I've been passed by a jon boat in rough water before. My first bass boat was a 17 or so rated for a 135. I was fine.

I've been fishing it out of a 17 footer with a 90 horse for years now, but I know when I can and when I can't get out on the main lake.

Yeah! No way in hell I would rely on anything under 20 to cross the big water or make long main channel runs. I have been worried a few times out there when it got rough in a 21ft boat.

but a buddy says the ride is way better in the 250 so I may pay a little more and get that.

Get the 250, it goes through white caps like they aren't even there.

Even in calm conditions? Wind forecasts are pretty reliable these days.

Boat size almost becomes irrelevant when you have to ride with people that don't understand how motor trimming works.

It's always fun watching some dude go porpoising across glass with a 50 ft rooster tail.

Indian mounds area is perfect for this. You can fish every type of water in this area and be pretty protected.

If you know the launches you can fish 1215, Housen, Lanans, Carrice and the list goes on, in small boats without risk.
My buddy has a 21' Ranger and I have a 22' Xpress bay boat and it's still gets scary sometimes in the main lake.

You know in the spring there are not many calm days. It doesn't take much wind in the right direction to get the lake rolling. I wouldn't plan a trip weeks in advance to fish out of a smaller boat. I've had a camp there for almost 20 years.

Oh, I agree to an extent. I'd plan, then either cancel or just fish one creek.

If you launch at Jack's at Housen you can fish a ton without getting in the main lake, also the same at Lanan's and 1215.

Weather called for light and variable last Saturday and it was white capping on 1215. Don't rely on the forecast. If there is not much grass on the lake like you guys are saying, I'd be beating the bushes up with a jig. There's plenty of protected coves to do that. Just have deep water close by.

It was sleeping on us last weekend and we were killing em.

I'm probably wasting my money but I figure it's worth a shOT.

Told myself I would never fish there under those conditions again, but I gotta fish when I can. Only caught 8. Most shallow on spinners early. Partner got two bites on umbrella on main lake points. Found no grass mid-lake.

Yea we caught 5 I lost 4 on a fairy wand with light line and a shaky head on a flat. We should have had 15 lbs but stuff happens.

Tough conditions for sure but there were some good sacks caught. We fished Paulo the majority of the day and the wind was blowing right up the mouth where it would be worst for us
