Pre-emptive cool story, bro!

I was at a tapas place in Seville, Spain yesterday. My son was wearing a LSU hat, and the waiter said "GO TIGERS!" in terrible English. He said he is a huge NBA and NCAA basketball fan, and loves LSU. I thought he was just being nice, but then he mentioned that he watched the game this week, and was really bummed about the loss - not something a casual fan would say the day after the game and with 7 hours of time difference. We chatted for a little while, and he gave us a few free drinks which was cool. Glad to see LSU so well represented globally.

TLDR.... LSU has fans in southern Spain. They give free drinks to other LSU fans.

Similar situation in a gift shop in Luss, Scotland about 3 years ago. The guy at the sales counter saw my cap and said Go Tigers! I asked how he knew about LSU and he said he had a nephew that adored American football and LSU. I left him the cap.

I got a geaux tigers in Cadiz couple years ago.
Upsets the wife, but 95% of my flights abroad are in tiger gear.
LSU fandom knows no boundaries, even Madagascar, Falklands, and of course Australia has a huge LSU following.

funny you mention this.

i was in paris, barcelona and rome in may and got a few 'GEAUX TIGERS!' from people in all 3 cities. i was wearing my purple LSU backpack, so it was pretty noticeable. that was pretty cool to see.

btw barcelona is the greatest city on earth

I was mining for iron ore in the Siberian winter a few years back, staying warm by consuming copious amounts of vodka, when I spelled out Geaux Tigers in the snow... so basically the same story!

I was at the Medellin, Colombia airport a few years ago and someone tapped me on the shoulder and yelled, "Go Tigers!" I was so shocked it took me a few seconds to respond.
